Nixon's Southern Strategy, Reagan's War on Drugs, Clinton's Tough On Crime, they're all just basically figuring out how to get away with Jim Crow in the modern age. And it really doesn't advantage white people, not in the long-term anyway. But it does benefit white people to have cops and judges who treat them "normally" by not throwing the book at them for the same crimes as black, Native, and Latin people. |
