We're already about 500 votes behind yesterday's matches at the end of the first hour. The sprite pictures could be hurting our vote totals, but it's also possible we're seeing the "Saturday vote total penalty" again since these matches are starting on Friday night heading into Saturday.

I did research a while back and calculated average vote totals for each day of the week in the regular polls and the research shows the highest average vote totals happen on Monday-Thursday. Friday polls show roughly a 7% reduction in vote totals compared to Monday-Thursday. Saturday polls are even more severe at a 12% reduction in vote totals, while Sunday has only about 3% reduction.

Seems about right. Friday night is when people party or hang out at friends places or play video games or do anything

I never understood why Ganon's sprite pic hurts him so badly. With Solid Shit, it's pretty understandable because few people have played the original Metal Gear on NES (around a 42% playrate) so not many people recognize Snake from his NES game appearances.

Zelda 1 is no Metal Gear - it has around a 76% playrate on this site, so a good portion of the site should have recognized Ganondorf's sprite from that game.

That's implying people got far enough in the game to get to Ganondorf

Zelda 1 is large and easy to get lost in and not beat

Seems like you could do best of 5 the whole way, since we don't have the time constraints of a physical venue.

I've ran online tournaments before in other places and it basically depends on how many entrants there are and I need to put like 5 minute limit auto loss if people dont show up to a match.

Assuming b8 has gotten smaller since last Smash, I can consider the 3/5 all the way rule at least.

I'd like it to start at Friday evening December 14, 2018. This'll give Nintendo time to fix any netcode issues on the first days if any, and it'll give people time to unlock the characters they care about.

My preferred rules would be double elimination (like the current GameFAQs legends bracket you need 2 losses to be out of the tournament), 1v1, No Items, 3 stock, 8 minutes, Maybe Random Select all stages with no hazards, Only loser of the previous game in the set can change character.

Open to suggestions.
