Cowboy Bebop is the weirdest hill to die on about ethnicity, even apart from Faye clearly being an Earthborn asian. Mainly because the show has such a fierce Chinese bent to it. A lot of the more densely populated planets they go to are full of chinese imagery. Chinese statues and architecture is everywhere, most things are written in Chinese characters with english accompaniments. When characters read emails and documents and signs a lot of the time they aren't even written in Japanese, they're straight up chinese characters.

It's far enough in the future that ethnicity is thoroughly mixed together more likely than not, though it's hard to believe Spike is some kind of pure caucasian considering where he came from and how he behaves in the show, germanic last name or not

A bunch of really racist people co-opt a symbol and start using in for themselves, start trying to code them into conversation. People call out the racist people for co-opting the symbol and start pointing out and punishing people using it in things. Racist people somehow take this as "victory" and don't comprehend the idea of what they did and how it can apply to oodles of things.

It can be pretty frustrating watching people come so close to understanding how society and language work and then utterly failing and collapsing steps away from the finish line

Because it was mainly a show with black people in it, rather than a show about black people. A show that doesn't touch on minority issues and mainly focuses on the issues of being upper middle class is going to have a lot more white people sitting comfortably with it.

I don't really hold that against it in any way, but it's also not the "only way to do things" as some people will have you believe. There's a place for both approaches

Nah. The right has a long and proud history of getting dumb people to fight valiantly against problems that scarcely exist, this is just the latest in a long line of them. All of them are from various other planets except Faye, who is from Singapore and shown in an episode amidst classmates in very asian-style school uniforms. Spike is a little bit more iffy, but from what we know he was born on Mars in a predominately chinese area, and worked for a chinese crime syndicate so him being at least part-Chinese is possible if not likely.

Jet being black is the only outright unsupported one, but he's voiced by a black guy in the dub and I always thought of him as mixed race personally so I don't really care.

It really depends on the cost and how much money it will save. It really wouldn't even need to break even. If it costs 15 billion over X years and saves 10 billion over X years, I think that 5 billion cost would be an an acceptable expense. If it costs 10 billion and saves 1 billion, then it would be pointless.

What profit can you see a border wall making that wouldn't be swallowed right back up in maintenance costs, the costs of labor and the price of getting the land on which to build it in the first place?

The woman is trapped in an environment with an individual who has now been charged with assault multiple times. He is shown on another video calling his infant child the c-word. When he attacks her, she specifically pleads with him not to strike her face. Yeah, she's throwing shit at him, probably because he's this horrible lump of shit who is currently in her life that she's had two kids with and is now intrinsically tied to it. There's almost no way that this was the first violent incident that's occurred in that house, especially going on how she reacted.
