Shit, even on PC you need a pretty powerful rig to offset how poorly optimized ARK is.

Though tbh, it's still fun even when you have to play it on toaster settings.

7 Days to Die was actually decent though. Too bad it will never be finished.

Oh gawd... I thought it was pretty bad on the original xbox one during the game preview phase, apparently it got better later but never tried it personally.

That version was pretty bad, but at least tolerable after a bit... the switch is like a completely different art style approach. Like comparing a simple cel shaded game vs super realistic.

That said, on the tiny portable screen it seems fine and you can probably get by, but I dread what it looks like on anything over 30, even on my monitor it's literally given me a bit of ocular strain and weirdness after a short bit since it's far too distorted. That's a pretty impressive feat seeing as I've never been bothered by video such as motion sickness like some.

I just cannot understand how Ark keeps selling like it does.

Because despite the crappy pop in and framerate drops, taming dinosaurs and building bases is pretty cool. Especially in a game that is so easily moddable.

It's amusing how many of the negative steam reviews have like 300+ hours played and end with "this game is trash"

Yeah, Wildcard is like indie Bethesda. Yes, I know their games are poorly optimized, ugly and buggy trash, but they're just so damn fun. Despite me loving Spider-Man, God of War and RDR2, I've easily put in more time in Ark than those 3 combined and am eager to start Extinction in a few weeks wuth my friend.
