Semi-related note, Rockman.EXE Operate Shooting Star (AKA Mega Man Battle Network: Operate Star Force) has a translation patch now. DS remake of MMBN1 with an added chapter involving some of the SF cast travelling back in time, after which you can choose to play as either Mega Man.EXE or Star Force Mega Man, with different battle mechanics.

He should have swapped the positions to have fewer of these, I do agree.

HOWEVER, Mega Man changed the result in the Pikachu rematch and Samus is trying to flip on Mario. So they're not entirely predictable.

Sonic>Sephiroth is only being said because Sephiroth underperformed, because we had high expectations
We don't expect anything out of Sonic so as much as he sucks we didn't think he underperformed, so it's easy to consider "the one that did as expected is stronger than the one that underperformed"

Sephiroth easily beat Sonic, he always sucked and always will
