One mans toothpaste holder could be another mans 4,000-year-old relic.

At least thats what Karl Martin was stunned to discover when he found out that his toothbrush jar was actually an ancient relic of Afghanistan.

Since the 49-year-old dad originally picked up the old pottery jar for just $5 at a car boot sale, he has been using it to hold his toothbrush for the last five years.

It even ended up getting a few toothpaste marks on it, mused Martin.

But then six weeks ago, the antiques valuer noticed a similar piece of pottery that was being sold in an antiques sale at the auctioneers where he worked. When he asked a colleague at Hansons Auctioneers to examine his pot, he was amazed to hear that it was a genuine antiquity from Afghanistan that dated back to 1900 BC.

It was bought from a car boot sale in the village of Willington in Derbyshire, said Martin. I liked it straight away. I suspected it might be very old but forgot all about it.

Then, one day at work, I was helping Hansons antiquities expert unload a van and noticed some pottery which was similar to my toothbrush pot [so] I rescued the pot from my bathroom and asked him to examine it for me.

He confirmed it was a genuine antiquity from Afghanistan and dated back to 1900 BC. That means its around 4,000 years old made 2,000 years before Christ was born.

Its amazing, really. I specialize in British history rather than world history so I wasnt an expert in this field and was none the wiser. How it ended up at a South Derbyshire car boot sale, Ill never know.

James Brenchley, head of antiquities at Hansons Auctioneers, said that the jar came from a Bronze Age civilization of the north western regions of South Asia, and it was most likely brought back to the UK by wealthy travelers.

Martin ended up selling the pot at the auctioneers for $100 (80) more than 20 times the amount that he bought it for.

Not a fortune, but a decent profit, says Marin. I feel a bit guilty about keeping my toothbrush in it now.

A dad-of-four who hid his face from the world for 10 years has embarked on a new life after having an enormous 5.3kg (approx. 11.6 pounds) tumor removed from his face.

Majeed N, 45, from India, underwent a painstaking 12-hour facelift surgery to have the cancerous lump cut out.

His lower jaw was reconstructed to completely change his appearance using a bone taken from his leg.

For the past decade, Majid has barely left his house in the city of Palakkad because he was ashamed of his facial deformity.

The tumor, known as a chondroblastic osteosarcoma and measuring 8-inches by 6-inches, also made it difficult for Majeed to swallow and speak.

Due to the huge deformity on my face, my whole life had collapsed," he said. "I began staying indoors as people made fun of me. It is a huge relief to get the tumor off my face it is almost like a second birth.

The complicated surgery was carried out by not 10 but 12 surgeons at Amrita Hospital in Kochi over the course of a number of hours.

"Despite having several cycles of chemotherapy, the swelling on Majeed's face continued to enlarge, making his life unbearable," Dr. Subramania Iyer, who oversaw the surgery, said. The huge mass was leading to grave complications. If the condition had persisted, Majeed would have found it impossible to use his mouth."

"The removal of the tumor, as well as reconstruction of the lower jaw, was a great challenge," Iyer said.

Iyer said that Majeed is recovering well following the successful surgery.

uring my freshman year in college, the upperclassmen on the football team tried to haze the new players, but our class was actually large and much better than their shitty players by that point, so we as a group told them to fuck off. Pretty hilarious to see a group of people that had been hazed and clearly wanted to get revenge and do so to fresh meat as well only to realize that they were in no position to force the issue.

Similar thing happened to me.

The old veterans wanted to pick on the foreigners but the foreigners were much larger than them so it utterly backfired.

The world's leading doctors and scientists have discovered that your brain is abnormal and inside of it lies the key for curing cancer which could be perfected and implemented globally within 5-10 years.

The issue is that due to a series of complicated reasons which you're not knowledgable enough to quite understand no matter how many times they to explain it to you, they have to act quickly and remove your brain. If they wait until you die, it will be too late and the results would be worthless.

Due to ethical reasons promoted by liberals, they obviously can't just kill you and take your brain. They need your consent or else the whole thing is off.

Voters in Taiwan have voted to restrict marriage to being between a man and a woman in a referendum.

The result has been seen as a setback to LGBT couples who were hoping their island would be the first place in Asia to let same-sex couples share child custody and insurance benefits.

The vote on Saturday, organised by Christian groups that make up about five per cent of Taiwan's population and advocates of the traditional Chinese family structure, goes against a May 2017 Constitutional Court ruling.

Justices told legislators then to make same-sex marriage legal within two years, a first for Asia where religion and conservative governments normally keep the bans in place.

Although the ballot initiative is advisory only, it is expected to frustrate politicians who are mindful of public opinion as they face the court deadline next year.

Many legislators will stand for re-election in 2020.

"The legislature has lots of choices on how to make this court order take effect," said referendum proponent Chen Ke, a Catholic pastor in Taiwan and an opponent of same-sex marriage.

Ruling party politicians backed by President Tsai Ing-wen had proposed legalising same-sex marriage in late 2016, but put their ideas aside to await the court hearing.

Opposition to same-sex marriage rose after the court ruling, as opponents held rallies and mobilised votes online.

Courts will still consider local marriage licensing offices in violation of the law by May 2019, if they refuse same-sex couples, a Ministry of Justice spokesperson said last week.

"The referendum is a general survey, it doesn't have very strong legal implications," said Shiau Hong-chi, professor of gender studies and communications management at Shih-Hsin University in Taiwan.

"One way or another it has to go back to the court."

Voters approved a separate measure on Saturday calling for a "different process" to protect same-sex unions.

This assumes our current system works at rehabilitation rather than punishment. We're really quite open about the fact that it doesn't, and doesn't aim to. To use the impacts of our system as some sort of argument against a different system doesn't make much sense to me.

A 64-year-old man had been arrested and fined after stealing a roll of toilet paper in Shimane Prefecture.

The incident occurred in September at a hospital in Okinoshima, located in Oki District, Shimane Prefecture. Okinoshima lies on an island off the west coast of Japan, and has an estimated population of around 14,849.

According to reports, the man was found guilty of stealing a roll of toilet paper from a male restroom at the hospital and fined 200,000 yen. The toilet paper was valued at 30 yen.

Why the man chose to take the toilet paper from the stall remains unknown, but reports say the heavy fine for such a small-value item was due to the fact that this wasnt the mans first offense.

The story is currently making headlines in Japan, with net users around the country commenting on the severity of the punishment and recent cases of crimes committed by the elderly.

He couldve bought 6,000 rolls of toilet paper for that amount of money!

Im surprised that we live in a world where people think its okay to steal toilet paper from a public toilet.

While its unclear whether the mans financial state was the reason behind the theft, its safe to say that no matter what your age, Japanese authorities wont act lightly when it comes to taking things that arent yours, even if its 30 yen from a shrine offertory box or a single grape from a fruit stall.
