I have the call-out time to spare and then some...just not really sure if I feel like working.

On the plus side, if I lay out, I'll only have a three-day work week (Monday was the last day of vacation).

Help me, CEmen, you're my only hope.

He is a guy that figured out how to make money by making up conspiracy theories.

He's basically an entertainer that people enjoy listening to for entertainment purposes, but media companies don't like that.

If he just went and properly acted like an entertainer, not tried to come off as "real" (despite admitting in the past he's a gimmick) and his supporters didn't believe he was an actual reporter it wouldn't be quite so bad.

I hear ya. I just think its better to put the accountability on people who choose to make decisions based on him saying words. Its just easier for people to punish the talker rather than those who actually physically do stupid or bad things, so thats the route we go because we are lazy.

At times like this, I'm reminded of the words of Abraham Lincoln (different situation, obviously, but same gist): "Must I shoot a simple-minded soldier boy who deserts, while I must not touch a hair of the wily agitator who induces him to desert?"

Jones says and does all this shit, hypes people up into harassing innocents, and then he gets to claim "No, it's a persona, I don't actually MEAN any of it!"? No. He knows full well what he's doing; it's damn near yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater.

This is a bad precedent.

A former coworker unironically shared Alex's post teasing the Pizzagate bullshit and legit defended the nonsense when I called him out on it, saying that I have my news sources and he has his. He hasn't shared anything else from Alex since, so maybe I got through.

I saw an Infowars bumper sticker calling for the end of the Fed and to jail all bankers. I live in Canada.

He's not harmless, he influences the angry/susceptible/poorly educated with lunatic conspiracies.

I think it wasn't so much the ring (why would the Ring of Air let him control water? That was Galadriel's deal), but his other powers. Gandalf says something like all of Rivendell is under Elrond's control.

The powers of the Rings of Power aren't that straight-forward, nor are they very clearly explained. What we do know is that Vilya was the most powerful of the three Rings, and we can infer that Galadriel and Elrond both used their Rings to preserve their surroundings. It's not unlikely that, as part of that preservation, Elrond was able to enchant the river.
Keep in mind that Elvish magic isn't much about casting spells like your typical wizard. It's a lot about craftsmanship and song, so it sounds more likely to me that Elrond's Ring helped him enchant the waters of Bruinen than that he did it himself.

Sounds right. Probably would have "killed the mystery" if Tolkien had gone deep explaining exactly how magic worked. He had to leave space to describe the trees. All of them. ^_^

in the first film i thought it was arwen who summoned the river spirits to drive away the nazgul

It was. She was just a replacement for Glorfindel in the books. I'm fine with that cause introducing him for him to do nothing would be weird. Although G. In the books just gives frodo his horse to ride and it's actually Frodo alone who stands up to the Nazgul at the river, but starts to come to under the witch King's control and starts to come toward them. Then Elrond with Gandalf's assistance (he make the water look like horsemen) causes the river to flood. It's because of Elrond's ring of power that he can do that if I recall.

I just find the movie scene and the original plan for Arwen being in Helms Deep to be weird and takes away from Eowyn, but I guess Jackson thought of that and changed it.

Edit:. Oh I see you got the names mixed up. Nevermind.

Rogue: "Usually? No. I've got some bad assosciations with it and it's a crutch I don't like to use, but I figure today's worth it. Not to mention tonight."

Illyana: "Good point. Also, T.M.I."

Yes, Remy & Anna are now married. They're on their honeymoon. IN SPACE. Seriously. They have a three-issue mini running called Mr. & Mrs. X.

Kitty left Piotr because she thinks their past is too fucked up to base a marriage on (can't say I disagree).

As pointed out, no, Kitty & Piotr are not together now.

Rogue got Illyana to dig around the X-Mansion's X-closets (sorry) and found one of the Genoshan inhibitor collars. Hence, Remy does get to kiss the bride. And later, much more. ^_^

If this was the one in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Secret Service wouldn't have even had to do that. NC has a law which say it's illegal to carry open or concealed in any place which forbids it, OR in places which charge admission to get into (like the Charlotte Convention Center does).

I don't care much for Trump one way or another but this I definitely agree with.

As long as they intentionally bias every article, the media is definitely the enemy of the people.

It's not the kind of thing a politician should say because in concept it's absolutely untrue just like in concept your arm isn't detrimental to your health, but tourniquets exist because they can become that way.

So rather than think that it's one person -- Donald Trump -- who is consistently lying and being called out on it, you find it easier to believe that it's tens of thousands of people -- the media -- who are consistently lying and being called out on it.

Interesting.

I think my favorite thing within the last few days is this:

https://twitter.com/RVAwonk/status/1024491275540676608

Trump: "Of course, if the fake news did a poll, they're called 'suppression polls', you know, polls are fake, just like everything else."

Crowd: *boos*

Trump: "If the fake news did a poll, it would show that I'm only getting twenty-five percent with the 401K people, even though they're up forty-four percent. Now, we got, we're doing well. We're doing well, and I'm happy you're doing well. They just came out with a poll, did you hear...the most popular person...in the history of the Republican Party...is Trump, can you believe that?"

Crowd: *cheers*

It literally doesn't even take him twenty seconds to contradict himself, and these people just go along with it. It's congnitive dissonance on a scale so grand as to induce vertigo.

But like.. the amount technology has changed in the last fifty years is insane. It's become more affordable and available too, you're probably holding more technology in your hand right now (phone) than the Apollo 11 mission had.

So insert whatever conspiracy you want, moon landing or not a lot of things don't seem to make much sense.

The 'technology' NASA is referring to is the Saturn booster. Of course they could build far better landers, but they've shifted away from building those giant flaming towers of doom that sent the Apollo missions on their way.

Have you ever known an engineer? They tend to be very precise. To their mind, not getting any yogurt is preferable to possibly getting the wrong kind.
Yeah, I am an engineer. Many of my friends are engineers. Most of us don't have that issue when it comes to basic shopping.

If I offended you, I sincerely apologize. But every single engineer I've known has been like a cast member from Dilbert. ^_^

If he's an engineer, you need to be exacting. "1 six-pack of Dannon vanilla yogurt. If Dannon is not available, Breyers or Yoplait are acceptable alternatives."
The man isn't a living machine for her to input software codes / conditions!

This is exactly why I dont send my husband to the grocery store anymore

Do you think he did it on purpose to get out of having to go grocery shopping

Nope. Hes just not patient for it. And he doesnt know a lot of ingredients I ask for. For example, he had no idea what Panko breadcrumbs were. And he doesnt have the patience to look for it. Forget asking me where it is or looking up a picture. If he doesnt see it right away, hes not getting it. Period.

I once asked him to get me vanilla yogurt. He came home with no yogurt. I asked why. Apparently I wasnt specific enough on what brand I wanted.

Hes not stupid. Hes an engineer. Theyre a special sort lol

For my money, it's Brand New Eyes, their last one with the original lineup. The band were firing on all cylinders at that point, and it was Hayley's best lyrics.

remember how republicans claimed obama was the antichrist who hated america?

but love this traitor?

what is the difference. is it just the political party or is there something else to it?

Some evangelicals literally think that God made Trump president so that he could overturn Roe vs. Wade.
