The penultimate episode featuring Bojack doing something vile, the comeback and attempt to change, etc. But while I get it, maybe, it's not hugely satisfying television. How do you balance an emotionally honest tv show about a guy with circular, self-destructive tendencies without making the whole show feel equally circular? I thought things would be different after s4 but it's...idk, more of the same almost? And the show deliberately not using Hollyhock was a big sign of their desire to remain stationary rather than move forward imo. S4 ended with her as a hope in his life but she's almost a non-issue in this season. Structurally the show needs to move on and flip the script next year, because Bojack's cycle of self-destruction can't be allowed to self-destruct the show itself. I kinda think it should only have one or two more seasons anyway. --- Not to be confused with XIII_Stones. |
