That's why girls in your workplace / at nightclubs and bars / on Tinder won't give you even one date. You have to tick all 3 boxes. I doubt many of the guys on CE tick more than 1 box (presumably the top one), which is why they won't give you the time of day.

Think about this.

Are you depressed yet? You should be.

Of course, that logic when applied to American doesn't work.

Sorta, but it's better to just have the traditional format, someone sitting at a desk and telling you stuff. Anyway, some of those aren't REALLY news, are they? Sports isn't news, and film releases aren't really news. I want to see "proper" news, if you see what I mean.

At the very least, get sport out of news. The exception can be hugely important sporting events, and of course the top tier event, the Olympics. Society will thank me.

Note: I really like 24 hour news, and clearly it's helpful (especially if your internet connection is down), but there is definitely a way to improve them, talked about below.

Cut all the "special segments". You know, everything that isn't the rolling news. There shouldn't be constant interruptions like this, and TBQH some of them are pretty boring, IMO. Here. I'll use the BBC News Channel as an example, and show all the things that should be remove, turning it into a "pure" news channel, which is probably the best way to do it.

Get rid of the following...

Sports Day
Click
Film Review
The Victoria Derbyshire Show
Dateline
Reporters

I've might've missed something, but you get the idea. Just 24 hour news. Seriously: kill Sports Day twice. Good riddance.

What do you think of this idea, CE?

I just saw a documentary about Wilheim II, called Queen Victoria and the Crippled Kaiser. It was quite good, but didn't tell me much that I didn't know about him beforehand. Having said that, I did learn at least one new thing, but sadly something very disturbing. When Willheim was still a child, and away from his mother, he sent a number of letters to her with some, uh, rather inappropriate content. I'm not sure why, but there we go. He was a rather strange individual, in a number of ways.

I think the series is good. I mean, the graphics are amazing for the release years of the games, and although gameplay matters more, graphics still count for a lot. In general, the gloss of the series is very impressive, with multi-tiered environments, and lots of flashy moves. Having said that, the moves are a bit too...mundane. It's not like Street Fighter, where you have projectiles and OTT moves, and more like Virtua Fighter, with kicks, punches and throws. There are too many moves to learn for each character, versus how different and useful they are. Also, there doesn't seem to be much good stuff to unlock. DOS 4 has 12 characters, and I'm pretty sure they were all unlocked at the beginning. What kind of fighting game does that? Sound is good, although not really memorable, like in a platform game or something. I'm glad I've played the DOA series, but it never really seems to fire on all cylinders, which is a shame.

Tony Hawk's Proving Grounds was also an excellent game, but definitely not as good as P8. I mean, it was the same kind of thing, but there was some stuff that brought it down. Those horrible, drab, "realistic" graphics, with all the lack of colour; quite a few of the Classic Mode goals were boring / annoying; the Rigging challenges were really dull at times, although after a while, they were just...mediocre. It's a shame, because I still really enjoyed it, but it could've been better.

Funny, those were 2 of the games I got the first year I had my 360.

GOW is a different story, though. I remember, the week I got it, I played for maybe 2 hours, and didn't touch it for quite a while after that. When I did go back, it was just for something to play. Many years later, though, I did play it quite a lot and enjoy it...it was more fun on the highest difficulty settings, especially once you got used to the simple (but hard) gameplay, and the grey / brown graphics.

I actually got those 2 games on the same day, but I really enjoyed P8 straight away, and wasn't that into GOW. I miss the days when I could afford to buy 2 or 3 games on the same day.

Some more questions for you, if you don't mind.

1. What is the gaming scene like in Germany? Are there many games stores? Is reasonably easy to buy consoles and games? What is the social view of gaming?

2. How is infrastructure? Roads, railways, internet, etc. I would assume it is all pretty good, and runs pretty well, but you never know.

3. What is the German view of peaceful, democratic protesting? Marches, picketing places, that kind of thing. Is it frowned upon, encouraged, or do people not really care one way or the other?

4. How posh do you have to be to have von in your surname? How common is it?

5. How severe or lenient is the court system? Is it hardline, or a "soft touch"?

6. What are the main retail brands in Germany, in particular, supermarkets (if supermarkets are important in your country)?

Made me laugh.

And as much as the US helped us (Europe) in the 2 world wars, the European military did an awful lot. We pushed back the enemy, we liberated cities, and we protected locations from ever being invaded. We lost a lot of people, a lot of money, and a lot of military hardware. But Trump thinks we weren't that important. Okay then.

- Tons and tons of content
- Extremely hard
- Excellent graphics for the time, that still look great now
- Variety
- Non-linearity
- Fun little cutscenes and characters / real people
- Three tiered challenges work well for players of different skill levels
- That sense of satisfaction when you beat a really hard bit

After 12 years, I'm still playing it from time to time. On my main file (although I have quite a few), I'm at about 65% completion of the regular goals in general, and almost half of that is done at Pro level, and about 10% is at Sick level. I feel like I've done a lot, but it's such a hard game.

Best thing the Tony Hawk series ever did, and a lot of fun in general.

If you were to go into a bookstore (and yep, people still do) and browse the shelves and spines on European history, you'd form the impression that German history was only twelve years long: 1933-45. I don't know if book retailers' obsession with the Nazi era is because they believe that swastikas sell books, but fuck me, I'm sick to death of it.

And I'm saying that as someone who, in his teens, voraciously consumed anything he could read about that era. The Axis forces fascinated me. Seeing the war through German eyes was a bit like watching the original Star Trek with the Klingons as the good guys: something coolly subversive. (And it was, back then -- when for most Brit schoolkids brought up on a diet of comic book patriotism, the war was all about GIs and Desert Rats battling a faceless foe: squareheaded and jackbooted hordes whose only speech was "Donner und Blitzen!" and "Gott in Himmel!" as Captain Hurricane clobbered them with a torn-off tank cannon. When you finally read about WWII from the German perspective it felt like you were breaking a taboo, and breaking taboos is always exciting.)

The important thing, Sunhawk, is not to become so close to your subject that your sense of perspective starts to erode and you find yourself always leaning towards your subject's side. I'm not saying you're letting that happen -- I'm just cautioning you against letting it happen.

You know, this is actually slightly true. It's a good warning. I suppose if a person consumes enough information / entertainment about the Nazi era, they could get quite sucked in.

Recently, though, I've become more interested in East Germany than the Nazis. I've watched a few hours of documentaries about it, and read various stuff on Wikipedia, but the funny thing is, it's somewhat hard to get lots of information on it. I suspect that East Germany TV documentaries are outnumbered by Nazi TV documentaries by a factor of 10:1. Also, there don't seem to be THAT many books on East Germany. Some, yeah, but not that many. Furthermore, most books about East Germany seem to focus mostly on the Stasi. It's really annoying. I want more information on East Germany, but it's hard.

I'd also like to learn more about the German Empire, which is a period of German history I'm largely ignorant on, but I don't know what to read / watch. If you, or anyone, have any suggestions, it would be good.

You can reuse those "toys" but if you blow hundreds on a meal, you're just making expensive literal shit after a short hour or so of perhaps pleasurable dining. I'd much rather learn to make it myself for a fraction of the cost. I learn a useful skill and save tons.

So there's literally nothing you've ever spent money on that was an experience you can't reuse? Never been to an amusement park or a gig or kayaking or whatever?

To be fair, I much prefer buying stuff I can use again and again. I've felt like this pretty much my whole adulthood. I mean...if I were to spent 50 on a game, I could play it on and off for years...whereas, I might pay 50 for a nice meal, and then it's gone within a few hours.

I don't even remember the last time I ate in a restaurant. Years and years ago, with my best friend and her best friend. We used to eat out every few weeks. I've been too poor to eat out since maybe 2013 (although I didn't have many friends just before that, anyway).

I miss the days of rich people eating at nice restaurants, then refusing to leave tips, and getting named and shamed on the internet. This happened sometimes back in the early 2010s. Why did it stop? Did we stop hating rich jerks or something?
