Yes, although I still don't actually know the details of that. I believe the new mode just puts you in Godhome with every upgrade and charm, and you do a boss rush against every boss in the game. So I'm not sure why you'd want to do that after all the bosses you have to face to unlock it.

It also counts toward full 112% completion, so you have to complete it if you want that.

Well I expected it to be mostly boss battles, and it definitely is. Did you find the hall of bosses? It appears that you can fight every single boss in the game again, and they even have multiple levels of difficulty. I've only fought two of them so far, but it seems the first option is just a regular fight against that boss. The second one seems to make the arena more dangerous or adds some other twist to the battle, in addition to the boss dealing double damage. And for the final difficulty level, called Radiant, you die in one hit. From everything. The boss, his summons, spikes on the floor, whatever.

I struggled a lot with the two I tried out. Pretty embarrassing too, since the bosses were Gruz Mother and Vengefly King. The easiest bosses in the game normally, but when you die in a single hit, turns out it's not quite that simple.

I'm curious to see what the other bosses are like. No way in hell will I be able to beat the Radiant versions of some of them though. I mean seriously, Nightmare King Grimm without getting hit? That takes a hell of a lot of patience. The one benefit of dying in one hit though is that you're free to abuse the Overcharmed state. I doubt many players thought it was worth the risk in the base game. But that risk is eliminated for these Radiant fights.

Death of the Outsider wasn't DLC. It was standalone. Plus it's taking up a slot that Knife of Dunwall and Brigmore Witches could occupy. Most would probably agree that those two DLCs are the peak of the franchise actually.

Dragoon (Kirby Air Ride/Super Smash Bros. Brawl)
HMS Thunder Child (The War of the Worlds)
Russell Casse's sacrifice (Independence Day)

The Dragoon in Kirby Air Ride actually isn't really much of a ramming vehicle. I mean it still does pretty good damage, but Hydra was definitely the one that was intended to be the offensive powerhouse. Brawl definitely turned it into one with that one Subspace cutscene and its function as an item, however.

I wouldn't say it's brutally hard, but it's not easy either. Also 18 hours isn't really that far if you're doing everything. The interesting thing with Hollow Knight is that a boss's difficulty varies. Some of the bosses that are generally considered the hardest can be relatively easy. And some that are considered easier can end up being difficult. That's what happened to me.

This does not solve any mental conundrums for me. I am still in the dark on why watching people play games is something people want to spend their time doing instead of playing those games.

It's not that difficult to grasp. In this case these players are significantly better than everyone else, so that's a reason to watch them. Another reason to watch someone play video games is if they're playing a game you have no plans to play yourself. And then sometimes you just find similar entertaining to watch, and maybe you want to see them play a game you've played.

Bump for Hollow Knight greatness.

What's your go-to charm combo?

I am really liking Joni's Blessing+Soul Eater+Shaman Stone when I fight bosses, but I'm wondering if I might get even more mileage out of some of the focus-based combinations like grubsong/quick focus.

I am also kind of struggling to see the point in the reach charms. Seems like everything has timing that can be hit with the base reach.

The reach charms are really useful for spike pogoing (like in the Path or Pain) and help a lot in the Coliseum. I'm generally a fan of them.

I typically go offensive/DPS for bosses, so some combination Quick Slash + Steady Body + Unbreakable Strength + Mark of Pride + either Thorns of Agony or Grubsong. QucikSlash is, IMO, the best charm in the game.

I definitely mix it up though, sometimes doing spell builds. After the most recent expansion, minion builds are incredibly viable (and actually the best way to kill Traitor Lord). Weaversong + Sprintmaster + Grubsong (synergy where Springmaster increases weaverling speed and they steal soul). Also Glowing Womb + Defender's Crest (synergy causing posion cloud damage). Can even throw in Grimmchild to complete the set.

Yeah that's pretty similar to the endgame set-up I used. Quick Slash, Unbreakable Strength, Mark of Pride, Grubsong, and Nailmaster's Glory. I also had a good time using a spell focused build earlier in the game, but I think getting the most out of the Nail appealed to me more in the end. Quick Slash is definitely one of the best charms in the game, but Grubsong is up there as well. You can make use of it no matter what charm set-up you have.
