Psycho_Kenshin 04/21/18 2:16:03 AM #17 | For sure, Shin sounds like it'll be great stuff. From the little bits we've seen of the protagonist, reminds me a little bit of what they went for with Akiyama in 4. That he's kind of a laidback slick guy, pretty different from the selfless legendary Kiryu. They've got a lot of room to really mix up the narrative formula. What do you think they'll call it over here, probably New Yakuza? Or think up something cooler? Shin Yakuza works too. --- One Piece: Pirates with style! -= Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action =- |

Psycho_Kenshin 04/21/18 2:08:02 AM #15 | Love this game! It's really hitting the spot for me, so cool having many of them hit the West in the past year and a half. In the past few months I played 0, Kiwami, and 5 in preparation (didn't finish 5 but really enjoyed it), and watched a bunch of videos and whatnot of 3 and 4 as well. Also pumped for Kiwami 2 and Hokuto! Yakuza 6 is for sure the best game released in some time, and needs more love and attention from the press and whatnot. Though I do like that it's getting more marketing and buzz than the series had back in the day it seems. --- One Piece: Pirates with style! -= Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action =- |

Psycho_Kenshin 04/14/18 7:36:55 PM #142 | I don't really go for judging somebody just based on recent work and whatnot. Like an author or band that puts out later stuff you don't dig as much. Not to say other people didn't help, but I give him a lot of credit. Doing Zeta Gundam showed to me he wasn't a lucky one trick kind of guy. Plus he's a very different guy these days, to compare him to Anno for example, apparently Tomino was very depressed, so young depressed Tomino versus older optimistic Tomino, they made different stuff. Turn A Gundam for example, though what I saw of that was interesting. --- One Piece: Pirates with style! -= Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action =- |

Psycho_Kenshin 04/14/18 7:19:51 PM #133 | Love me some Tomino! That's still my fav Gundam stuff, in general some of my fav space opera stories, especially the movie trilogy version of 0079, and the full Zeta series. On the Code Geass references, I just last week finished Code Geass R2 with a friend, a bit behind on watching that show, was a very very entertaining show. I liked it, and by the end I was really invested despite it's ridiculousness and over-the-top cliches and twists etc, good times. For this upcoming season, FLCL, Lupin, and Full Metal Panic yessir. Psycho_Kenshin 03/29/18 1:45:19 AM #58 | Not bad, decent list, includes most of what I'd want to be on there. Order is always wacky. I'm happy to see Yakuza on there, in love with that series right now. Genre is always interesting to define, but this series does fit I'd say. I spent 140 hours playing Yakuza 0, a good amount of that is some fun grinding for money to get upgrades, unlock moves, up your stats etc, and you do quests for people. And equipment etc. And in other ones like Yakuza Kiwami you actually do have an experience bar and get experience points for beating up enemies in pretty much random battles. And spend it in FF style massive sphere grid things. And there is so much care put into all the side quests, and you juggle all these different ones at once, plus the main plot is usually very good. Anyways, I'd say calling it an Action RPG makes as much sense as calling it Action Adventure, but I get why the various aesthetic/stylistic trappings and whatnot lead only certain games to being called RPGs. That said, I myself have never really though of Castlevania SoTN as an RPG, even though it has elements. To me it has a lot less RPG elements than Yakuza, but I still don't mind seeing it on the list, plus great games. And nice to see DQ so high. On how FF is doing, I loved FF XV myself. --- One Piece: Pirates with style! -= Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action =- |

Psycho_Kenshin 03/28/18 5:03:43 AM #8 | I disagree with you there Vlado and find it's kind of a personal thing and not everybody should be put to the same ideals! Plus, you run the babes battle! Porn does not just mean videos of people having sex, it's a catch all term, it includes erotica that models in your contest have made! And which has surely helped many people relieve stress and get some sleep over the years. You post topics that could be said to include "porn" in them, so it goes to show just how subjective judging this stuff is. I've always been a fan of the word erotica, if that word was used would you have the same response? Most definitions of pornography pretty much just say that they're supposed to try to arouse, and of course nude or even semi-nude photography that you post can be said to be pornography. So it's all very wacky isn't it? And to further nitpick, you say watch, but the description in the topic says look at, so this clearly includes pictures, so Vlado you are guilty as charged my man. :P (Would be great if you were just joking and I typed all that haha - though I type fast! While games like Planet of the Babes and DNF goes full humor and Leisure Suit Larry with the ladies aspect etc. On tone, there are a lot of different ways to go, more than just comedy/satire versus drama. Take Deadpool, that movie has a lot of humor and zaniness, but can be taken entirely seriously when need be. I guess I'd liken an ideal Duke Nukem movie to kind of like Deadpool in tone. The character is eccentric and makes a joke of everything, but does take some things seriously (such as saving the Earth from alien bastards, and especially saving our women!). I wouldn't be surprised if Deadpool's big box office has an influence on a lot of movies, especially if this movie gets to be Rated R. --- One Piece: Pirates with style! -= Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action =- |

Psycho_Kenshin 03/25/18 2:26:03 AM #9 | Quick question, anybody in this topic dig 90s and 2000s kaiju movies, especially the mid-tier ones? Like let's say, Godzilla vs Megaguiras, Godzilla Tokyo SOS, stuff like that? As somebody who's seen every Godzilla movie, and lots of Power Rangers etc, and needless to say the Gamera trilogy is a masterpiece, anything there for me? The trailer for Rampage for example, that's something that looks like generic fluff shlock that has no appeal to me as a kaiju/toku fan. But I loved Pacific Rim, and I think my bar needed for this genre could be low if there's that sense of plucky earnest heroes versus monsters duking it out and whatnot. Building falling, scenes of scientists, all that stuff. I guess this is vague, but is there a hint of "that" kind of camp I like, cheesy low budget movies, or is it just generic Hollywood in it's feel, effects aside? --- One Piece: Pirates with style! -= Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action =- |

Psycho_Kenshin 03/25/18 2:06:40 AM #4 | I'll say, sometimes going with different mixes of hobbies can be nice. Like, sometimes I'll find I went half a year without reading any comics, or a year or two without reading a novel. Good time to pick those up. And of course, digging into classic movies on the to watch list, and stuff like that. Checking out music albums, I say no harm in letting a couple weeks go by without gaming. Mixing it up. That said, sometimes getting into something will get you rolling, if you haven't tried some of those games listed yet. I'll say Bioshock Infinite is one that is pretty smooth and straightforward, so it might be inviting. Plus it is terrific! I have a Bioshock Infinite poster on my wall oddly enough. Mario is the only other game I gave that honor too, randomly enough, both were at a local store. --- One Piece: Pirates with style! -= Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action =- |
Topic | Good games if you are Not Good at games? |
Psycho_Kenshin 03/25/18 2:00:15 AM #2 | A lot of RPGs, especially if they can be set to easy, can be pretty chill and not tough. And if getting stuck counts as tough, can always look up what to do, and there are full videos of everything these days. And if you don't mind looking up what to do when stuck, lots of point and click adventure games. I'd say if somebody hasn't played I dunno, FF7? That would probably go okay, easy-ish battles, can grind a little by doing random battles to level up a bit to make the story extra easy. FF XV, I know somewhat divisive, but I really loved it, wasn't usually tough on normal, I figure easy might be fine. And can't go wrong with something like Super Mario 64, or the recent Super Mario Galaxy. Games like that where a lot of the side stuff is optional, and the core gameplay is just fun. And lots of cinematic-ish games with forgiving stuff like the MGS series could be doable on easy mode. Usually if you get caught you can crawl under something, wait a couple minutes etc, and enjoy the story. There's enough wiggle room in that series even on higher difficulties, though may need to look up boss strategies. Are you into pretty much every genre, I guess it depends on what you're looking for, outside of the difficulty aspect. --- One Piece: Pirates with style! -= Metal Gear Solid: Tactical Espionage Action =- |
