Been a while since I played, but I seem to remember Everett as a fairly bad guy too. I remember him keeping the former Illuminati leader on ice, telling him that he would cure his disease, but that cure had been around for years. He just left the guy awake in cryo so he could get advice. And Everett is still a dictator, he's just more subtle about it. Hell, it even ends with the bit about ruling in hell.

Really though, none of the endings are good. It's just what you think is the least bad.

Angel's cancellation is sort of interesting. WB typically waited until the very last minute to renew the show; given the show's success, Joss Whedon requested that they be given an answer on their renewal right away. WB said that if they had to make a decision now, then it was cancelled.
