Yeah based on the other tweets I'm still going with fake on this.

People can fake screenshots of messages, there are even apps to make it easy to do. The screens could be real but your friend could be lying. People don't tend to be able to stab somebody right after getting shot, and even if they had the physical ability to do so, the shooter would probably just shoot again. It's too weird that after somebody makes a joke about shurikens, apparently she just happened to have sent you a picture of hers the day of the shooting. It's also weird that she either brought those along on a trip and bothered to unpack them and carefully arrange them, or took the photo earlier but for some reason waited to send it to you. Her weird definitions of "a few days" and "earlier in the week" make it look like you're just inventing the story details on the spot without regard for how they add up.

That's all I gotta say.

That's even stronger support for gun control. If the military won't join the dictator then why the fuck would you need guns. Are people so stupid they can't understand that it's so much easier (and more profitable) to take control through "legal" means. Corporations run your entire country. They never needed to fire a single shot nor can you take them down with your guns. Ruling a desert shithole with an iron fist is not the same as ruling a developed country. Sacrificing actual, current security to prepare for some paranoid, apocalyptic future is stupid.

It's not just the level design, but the lack of checkpoints that bugs me. Honestly I think I've only beaten Duke 3D on the XBLA version and N64 co-op, since those at least allow you to respawn in the middle of the level. For that reason I could never really get into Doom, but I'm not sure if there are versions out there with more forgiving respawns. Health is another thing that annoys me - I don't love regen mechanics (especially when the cover is too abundant), but being stuck at low health on a level mostly cleared of enemies sucks.

Half-Life 2 (and maybe the first Half-Life is like this, but I haven't played it) is the only FPS I've played that really nails the structure. You have health, but it seems to do a good job of dynamically giving you what you need and there are plenty of recharge stations. There are checkpoints, but the game is basically one continuous level, so it's understandable and not overly generous. The overall structure is linear, but there are little puzzles all over the place that don't involve esoteric keys and mashing the action button.
