Ill sum it up

Old dude says when he was young, he believed himself to be a transgender woman, got diagnosed with gender dysphoria, had the surgery, and lived as a trans woman for 8 years

Some kids will behave around people they do not know. Because they misbehave around those they trust to love them no matter what. Others will be good for one parent and not the other. Others will misbehave around strangers and behave around people they trust.

Oh this is absolutely true. You couldnt ask for better kids when Im babysitting them, but they definitely test their mom and dad to see what they can get away with. Theres some whining and crankiness to be sure when they dont get their way, but it never goes to name calling. And then once theyve calmed down, theyre very receptive to discussions about how they could earn what they want.

Fun fact: my grandpa was a drunk. He also never spanked because he thought it was stupid, and he literally said to a guy who spanked his kid on front of him "you're a real tough guy, beating up a five year old. Hit that kid again and see what happens." He was also a war vet who raised six kids as a fruit peddler, and all of his kids respect him without a single use of violence. Hell, most of them worked on the truck.

So yeah, if a drunk "greatest generation" type can figure out how to raise six kids to be functional adults who all had families and jobs, there's no excuse for any modern parent to hit unless you are a bad parent.
