If one believed the claims to be accurate, would bombing them really save Syrian lives, or to the contrary cause mass deaths? Where is the logic in bombing facilities believed to contain hazardous, toxic chemicals in or near densely populated areas?

To be fair, I do agree that bombing Syria without Congressional approval should be outside the scope of the powers of the President outlined in Article II, and its also outside the scope of the post-9/11 AUMF.

Even if I dont disagree with it morally, there is a rules lawyer counter-argument

But why the day after Trump says "We're going to leave Syria now?" Why not literally any other time?

Trump still says were going to leave Syria now. This didnt change that. He says this was a one-time strike unless Assad uses chemical weapons again.

I haven't followed the details of any of this at all.

But it is SO incredibly unbelievable (in the most literal sense) that Assad would sit there, waiting patiently for the US to announce that they are about to leave, and THEN, immediately do the one single thing that would trigger a US invasion.

Even if you believed he was stupid enough to do that once, last year. There's no fucking way he did the exact same damn thing again.

The Pentagon says every target was successfully hit.

NEW: Trump called Michael Cohen today to talk. Notable because:

-Cohen is now under criminal investigation

-Cohen is under (lawful) surveillance (if emails are searched, calls could be too)

-It's dangerous for subjects to talk to each other in a probe

I love this reply:
