Correction (Posted June 19): The original version of this story misstated what happened to the girl in the photo after she was taken from the scene. The girl was not carried away screaming by U.S. Border Patrol agents; her mother picked her up and the two were taken away together.

Is there a written story somewhere that I'm missing, because to me the image implies that Trump is being cruel to children. Is it any better that she was crying because her mother was frisked by agents? Unless of course the image wasn't taken at the border at all. I was under the impression that it was.

Yeah, and like I noted earlier, when the image first showed up, it was captioned accordingly. The photo was take when the mother was frisked, which was never concealed information. Did the cover story say the girl was separated?

The cover story relies on obvious implication given the context of when it came out. The context was children being separated from their parents in different detention centers and/or being deported.

All TIME had to do was get a photo of an actual child that was separated and this entire scenario would have never come about. The message is still plain as day and still holds weight, but it is somewhat devalued because of the child they chose to use.

No, and that is not the point being conveyed.

The point being discussed is the value of the message from the TIME cover and the specific child they used to convey a certain message.

This isn't about the value of the immigration situation, it's about the value of the message in this particular magazine cover.

He started in Qubec Nordics and was rookie of the year. Next year they rebranded to Colorado Avalanche and he was there for almost his entire career. I would guess that he debuted in NHL in mid '90s and he was a rock in the team for more than a decade. At least one (IIRC several) MVP of the league, topped scoring charts for years. Sure Gretzky was greater but Forsberg is up there with best players of all time.

Honestly I think OoT is amazing for its time, but I'm not sure it aged super well. It's difficult to say, since playing it today is such a hugely nostalgic experience for me.
MM I feel is superior in atmosphere, characters, quirkiness, etc. Which, to be honest, is where 3D Zeldas generally excel anyway.

I'm not talking about some racist libertarians, I'm talking about a context of successively more open fascism. At that point, do you think the epithet "Nazi" is inappropriate because it's "too strong" or is it just inaccurate because they aren't actually Hitler?

I don't really think of the Igavanias and 2D Metroids as being in the same category. In one you have projectiles and no experience system and in the other you have no projectiles (or relegated to sub-weapons) and experience points. They're close, but Castlevania is much closer to side-scrolling action RPGs than Metroid.

That said, if they're in the same category then Symphony of the Night has already topped Super Metroid.

If we're only talking about Metroid then I'd probably put Zero Mission ahead of it, based mainly on the improved controls and map, menus, etc. I think the layout of Super Metroid is still the best of the series, though. If it had all the little improvements of Zero Mission then it would still be the best pretty easily.

Yes. SM aged badly. Fusion is much better as it gives you a better plot, a better sense of immersion and expended on it's fear and horror theme, Samus's character development.

Eh, I think Zero Mission is a worthier contender. I like Fusion a lot - but more for the atmosphere.

I'm Mexican American and I don't speak a tiny bit of Spanish. Likely because my family isn't fresh across the border(third generation). Which is probably the same for most cultures. Longer they live in the US, less likely they'll speak their ancestral language.

It still boggles my mind why a Latino-American wont take the incentive to learn Spanish, their mother tongue, well into adulthood.

Being bilingual opens up more opportunities, plus you get paid more. So whats holding you back?

When I was like 10 I asked my grandfather why he rarely spoke Spanish anymore despite it being his primary language when he was a child and why he never tried to teach it to me. He said "Because we're American and English is the main language used here". His logic made sense to me then and it still does now. As for why I don't learn a second language for work? Because it wouldn't be of much use at my job. And, well, if I was going to learn a second language for a reason like that I'd try and learn something less mundane. Maybe like German or something. I don't know. Never really thought about it.

I dunno I can just imagine myself. If my parents or grandparents spoke another language natively I would wanna learn that, and if I get a kid I would definitely want to pass on as many languages as possible.

Hollywood has always been pretty heavily entrenched in politics. For the past 15 years or so especially, film makers are now working for themselves. Compare how much money these films are making to how they are rated and how many awards they win. There's a massive discrepancy.

This was probably inevitable. George wasn't going to keep making the films himself forever and the industry is full of ideologues who can't wait to use their productions to push their narratives. Star Wars was always an overrated series, at best a cheesy popcorn flick with a much better extended universe. Now it's a political statement and it's a lot harder to enjoy a bad film when people are shoving their opinions down your throat.
