it's hard to break em once they had the taste of the outdoors. though my cat only had 2 instances of getting injured. it lived 10 years until i had to put it down because of cancer at the vet.

1 was abscessed tooth living in the boonies (would of lost an eye if my cat didn't seek my help) brought to vet

1 was getting hit by a car due to a california driver (jaw got busted) that time cat went to the vet. cat also wouldn't of survived if i didn't find it a day later.
