probably not the best way but if you "slide" the top of the non-diagonal line left and right, all the way to the left, the pink area would be 1/2, and if you slid it all the way to the right, the pink area would be 1/4. so whatever the answer, it must be between 1/2 and 1/4. I don't know for sure that half way between the two would be exactly 1/3, but it's the only answer between 1/2 and 1/4.

Money is also a small issue for me right now, so the ultimate edition or whatever of Endless Space 2, that's $140 or whatever, is a bit off the table.

definitely Endless Legend if you're looking for the city and fantasy stuff. only Endless Space 2 if you specifically want a space game. Endless Legend has a lot more fun exploration, too, since ES2 is just stars, but EL is a fully randomized tile-based map including elevation and cliffs.

(ES2 is also kind of a sequel to both EL and ES1 at the same time, too, so it'd make sense to play EL before ES2.)

The problem was that I have literally never heard of it, or the devs, or anything about this ever at all. It was just a review of a guy that I've started watching and he talked about it. Asking around I haven't seen anyone who has even talked about it, much less played it.

Well, Amplitude made Endless Space, which was like one of the first really good space 4x games in a loooooong time, but it wasn't perfect, either.

Then they made Dungeon of the Endless and Endless Legend really close together.

Dungeon of the Endless is a sort of indie rogue-like tower-defense game where you open doors, and try to make it to the top floor to escape. It takes place on the same planet as Endless Legend (all their games are in the same universe.)

Endless Legend is their first attempt at a city/ground 4x game instead of a space one. they used a lot of what they learned from Endless Space and improved on the formula in a lot of ways while also introducinga bunch of new ideas and systems. Overall it's definitely an improvement over Endless Space 1.

(EDIT: somewhere around here they were purchased by Sega)

Recently they released Endless Space 2, in which they applied everything they learned making Endless Legend and brought it back to space 4x. In a lot of ways it's their best game, but doesn't completely replace Endless Legend either.

Now I just can't wait to hear Endless Legend 2 get announced, but we probably have a long time to wait before that, if they ever do make it.

well, I definitely like it a lot, but it's hard to translate my likes into someone else's likes

random things of note:
- you can't build cities anywhere; rather, the map is divided into "zones" and there can be at most 1 city per zone. (if you're the first to do it, you can build it anywhere within the zone though.)
- cities can grow in (physical) size almost without bound if they can generate the food to support it (can't exceed the borders of the zone you're in though)
- the races play a lot differently than one another (some more than others)
- it can be a bit tricky to get a feel for how everything works together. everything's more or less easy to understand by itself, but how it all translates into the big picture is less easy to grasp, or at least that's how it feels to me.
- the combat is almost tactical, but not completely. you issue orders at the start of the turn, and those orders may or may not play out the way you wanted. (another unit may move into the spot you wanted to move into, etc.). and unless you choose the right setting, you only get to issue orders every 2 turns.
- the combat is a bit slow unless you turn up the animation speed at the start of the game.
- the combat is not very exciting, but not terrible. depending on a person's tastes, they might think it is terrible.
- the game almost always devolves into "build the new building 40 times" (at least on longer/bigger games). it's still fun though.
- there's a LOT of variety in how the game starts, so it can and will vary considerably depending what settings you chose.
- the victory conditions aren't really balanced, and some are much easier to get than others. they can all be turned on or off though.

they had badly relayed information and were essentially looking for a 'needle in a haystack'. they didn't try very hard, but the title makes it sound like they found the vehicle and even knew a kid was inside, but then chose to do nothing. rather, they looked around half-assedly with poorly relayed information, and never found anything. curious, what are these ways you refer to?

microwaving actual coffee or tea, as opposed to just the water, *does* seem to affect the taste enough that I quickly learned never to do that. (for coffee I have a keurig like machine anyway, so I don't do this for coffee anyway.)

but otherwise, the microwave is faster, and the microwave doesn't involve mineral buildup which can leave a really nasty taste in water. only problem the microwave has is also heating the container, often making it hard to pick up.

not sure that's true. the kettle I used to have was basically just a power cable connected to a heating element. it must have lasted 10-20 years (probably really 5-10), and I could totally imagine it working decades later since there's nothing to break.

(and that's not pointing out the fact that you're non-electric kettle is used on the stove... you're just putting it on the heating element instead of putting the heating element in the water.)

a worse problem maybe was mineral buildup on the heating element.

I just don't get why people get so bitter over the price of a couple hamburgers. I seen a lot of it on the steam forums, too (for other games). Don't you have jobs? Even if you're relatively poor, $10 shouldn't make much of a difference.

It feels like, rather than actually being super poor and in some kind of sympathetic situation, these kinds of gamers are just unbelievably cheap and think they deserve everything for free. If it is the later case (which I'm not necessarily saying it is, I dunno what it is), then that's what I find hilarious, and I only wish they'd raise the price even higher (on any game) just to spite that kind of lousy attitude.

At least full release games that are incomplete still get updates without holding a price hostage then daring to bump it up. Makes no sense to pay more for an old game that been in the market for a year+. That's about the time it should be going on sale but with the early access scam they bump their price up and claim it's "new" and thus does not need to go on sale. This is a 85% off game or bundle tbh fam.
