My mom likes it for writing Chinese characters, but that's about it.

She can't type in Chinese, but can use the stylus to write out the characters fully.

That's more common in old school photography when Film photographs were a common thing.

Without currency, people can still try to use a barter economy, but it would be super inefficient. People would find alternative currencies, and I am sure there are examples in US history of this happening. I know things got really weird with currencies during the Civil War for example. Plus now with cryptocurrencies there is a whole new way of potentially doing things.

Then people around them just take the burden instead, while any lag behind gets attributed to the wrong people. Aside from that particular situation being unfair, that sort of skill set of sweet talking and networking is just not available to everybody

When you're a Employer and trying to be competitive with everybody else, guess what you want to get as much out of every Employee as possible within the legal limits.

Guess what, there are plenty of companies that will cheat or outsource to other countries where they can get the job done cheaper / better.

Even Office type jobs.

I know some people who tried for a good year or two and gave up because nobody will take him. Personally I also took 8+ months to get a non-scam legitimate job, and that was not even all that reputable of a position. I also graduated for like a pretty high ranking college, met a bunch of people who graduated from Berkeley and UCSD who worked at the same place for similar pay right out of graduation cuz nobody will take em.

After you try that long with next to no responses and people treating you like garbage because after like a few months after college, I guess you're basically useless according to employers, is it really that unreasonable to get discouraged? Not really. I sympathize with them, though obviously not everybody's gonna be in the same situation.

But let's just not demonize people who tried. This society sucks ass. It's just a matter of fact that the game of getting jobs is extremely exclusive as well as illogical and inefficient

Nepotism, Connections, who you know are a serious issue in terms of "Biased" selection for who gets employed.

realistically i think 39 hours would work, if it was only 39 hours and that included travel time.

This is why they need to offer "Flexible Hours" where you can choose to work maybe 3 days a week, but 13 hour days or 4 days a week, etc.

Then you can maximize your time and minimize the setup.

It can't be generalized like this. It depends on the work and depends on other factors such as commute, family size, activities outside of work, etc. Also, maximum before health decline doesn't mean maximum for productivity. Productivity can decline beforehand. Regardless, we should be trying to make our lives better, not squeezing every person for every ounce of productivity they supposedly have.

The Employer will want to maximize out as much productivity as possible.

Legislators that actually care about you, the worker, will find some academically proven reason to limit the work hours.

Ergo 39 is what they can get away with, then so be it.

As long as that 39 is "Flexible" in terms of when you need to be there to get the job done, so be it.
