I did, since I spawned on the Dutch's Island radio tower in post-game (gonna assume everyone does). It was the normal flag, at first blush, anyway -- I didn't count every star.

Real ending: the nukes are Joseph's way of coping with the fact that I am the one true GOD of fishing.

But seriously, the thing I hated most about the plot wasn't the ending, but the utterly contrived nonsense where I'm constantly being kidnapped and taken to bunkers and stuff. It literally happens 10+ times! Once, I even got magically tranq'd while flying a friggin' airplane.

As for whether the end really happened...I'm pretty sure it's 100% BS. I seem to remember the final bunker talk and the background flag was morphed into some type of Eden's Gate symbolism (instead of the usual 50 stars). Unless a sweet UPS chariot swung low and dropped that off at the eleventh hour, I'm gonna have to doubt everything I saw. But hey, at least Joseph didn't capture us in the bunker and make him write a novel about him. Some crazies do that.

I think in the RBY era, I'd level up my Nidoran M into the twenties for something, then switch to Nidoking for Thrash. I usually teach it Body Slam from that ship, though, so it's not super important in the long run.

Even if you're immortal, you can still feel pain and end up in bad situations. One of the worst ways I remember this backfiring is an old Highlander episode, where an immortal sailor got tied to an anchor (or something) and dropped to the bottom of the ocean. He'd continuously "die," revive, then have that repeat for centuries.
