Absolutely. Because if he'd truly learned his lesson, that shouldn't have even happened in the first place.

That the 'momentary slip' even happened in the first place simply proves that Luke is a moron.

Yeah, no. I don't care how old you are or what you've experienced, human beings aren't infallible.

Unless you're saying you're perfect and you've never for a slight second thought about doing something you knew you weren't supposed to do, even if you went back on that decision a moment later.

There's 'being human and makes mistakes' and 'is blatantly stupid'.

Luke's actions fall squarely in the latter, not the former. Especially considering he's come across an exactly similar case in his youth and he just went and made a life-and-death decision based on that.

This is less a 'momentary slip' than someone lifting his three-year-old and giving him a good ol' plane ride over the balcony of a building just because he thought it'd be thrilling and fun for the kid, then accidentally dropping him.

So you're trying to equate a momentary slip in judgment that lasted the barest of seconds with a decision to abandon his training that persisted for hours and had two people yelling "stop you idiot" the entire time?

Damn, someone's got a Kylo boner. I'm sure Kylo's account is true, from a certain point of view (his own). You're the one who took the two scenarios and decided which one you wanted to believe, and that's your choice. I'll trust the word of someone trying to act far more human and not operating on delusions of grandeur.

'Kylo boner'? That's a new one. Why would I feel that toward some mediocre tantrum-boy?

Anyway, hardly. I'm just pointing out that neither is more trustworthy than the other. There is no reason to believe Kylo that he was truly, 100% blameless and 'dark-free' when the incident happened and it started his descent. There is also no reason to believe Luke that Kylo was already completely corrupted and beyond saving. Both are trying to make themselves look more sympathetic in their accounts to Rey, both stories are likely steeped in self-justification.

Your choice if you're going to trust Luke. Myself, I take both accounts with a heavy grain of salt. Can't blame me for not being willing to trust an angsty kid who throws tantrums trying to be evil and an irresponsible moron who just went, 'lol oops, I ****ed up, well, have fun with the broken pieces guys, I'll just sit here in my corner, suck my thumb and cry to myself while the galaxy we spent a whole trilogy and countless lives to restore to order goes to hell once again.'

Luke turned Vader back to the light after a long struggle and a lot of lives lost. He sensed Kylo's heart had already been turned by Snoke, and he wanted to try to prevent the Vader-esque age of evil. Obi-Wan couldn't turn Anakin from the dark, and look what happened.

Luke had a long monologue about how he sensed the darkness growing and couldn't do anything to stop it. He talked about how he's sick of the endless cycle of the dark rising, and the light rising, and the clash.

Obi-Wan didn't even try to turn Anakin from the dark side because he had no idea his student was being corrupted until it was way too late. By the time he learned it the corruption was already complete and was not something that could be easily and quickly remedied. Not to mention that Vader was twistedly mad as hell at Obi-Wan and was trying to kill him at any opportunity possible. His situation was fundamentally different to Luke's years later.

Also, Luke 'sensed' Kylo's heart was already turned to evil? So he just goes and gets his lightsaber to kill him? Gee, I wonder what happened the last time he 'sensed' something and went against advice/common sense to blindly charge in without thinking further, eh? I dunno, loss of an arm and almost getting everybody killed, maybe? (Sure, R2 was the hero that got them out. No thanks to Luke though.)

Also, that account is directly contradicted by Kylo's own, and don't tell me that the words of some hermit who's been mulling over what he'd done years ago are any more convincing than a guy who's been nursing a rage through those same years over the fact his own uncle tried to kill him for no reason whatsoever. What, is Luke's account more trustworthy and freer from self-justification just because you hear his side of the story later?

Also, 'got Vader to return to the light...after a lot of lives lost'? Pray tell, what further lives were lost because Luke didn't chop Vader's head off when the Emperor willed him to? Or are you saying that Luke somehow had good opportunities to preemptively finish Vader off but didn't take them just because he thought his dad could be redeemed? When did that happen, exactly? Also, are you saying Luke should have just killed Vader when Palpy wanted him to? Gee, I wonder what happened when Anakin did the same thing with Dooku in RotS?

One of the lessons Luke was supposed to have learned in ESB, besides Vader's identity, is that he shouldn't rashly jump into action after drawing conclusions from half-baked feelings. The premise of his interaction with Vader in RotJ was that eventually, anybody could be redeemed with time and effort, if they had originally been good to begin with. Well, a fat lot of good those two movies have been, haven't they?

Luke was the relatable everyman, the TC said? Not even close. He could have originally been. And I agree with the one bit that it's better than EU-God-Wizard Luke. But TLJ didn't keep him as an everyman. Instead, it turned him into a blithering idiot who didn't learn a damn thing from all those experiences in the OT. All that character growth in ESB and RotJ? Undone. Luke is a horrible dolt. I'm surprised how the moron even got those Force powers in RotJ in the first place now that the denouement to his character is in. Idiot savant, maybe?

Just because Luke being a horrible broken god-character in the EU/Legends was a bad idea, doesn't justify the decision to make him into a dimwit instead. Actually, this is several times worse.

She would obviously know where the chute to the Rancor pit is, as this was certainly not the first time Jabba has done that.

And yet she still resisted. Even when knowing that she was on top of the chute and Jabba was clearly getting livid, she still resisted.

What exactly would be so abhorrent to her about Jabba's whim, whatever it was, that she would rather risk death than submitting to it? What could be so repulsive? Just sitting at his side can't be that, surely. Then...?

As a family-friendly flick, it's never openly mentioned or discussed, obviously. But the implications aren't good. Especially when you think of the scene of Jabba gleefully slobbering over Leia just minutes later.

Thanks for the hilarity, that was probably one of the stupidest suggestions regarding Korea's situation I've ever seen on CE. Nice accomplishment. Made my day.

Why is it funny? Korea wouldn't have any military presence from another country which would be a great thing and the negatives that comes with it like women being raped by those soldiers, Korea being cucked by another country by just simply being there, etc. It's like Israel having a large military presence, warships surrounding the country, "defense" missiles around the country, etc. in the U.S. If the U.S. stop paying protection money then Israel would fuck up the U.S. within a few days. Similar to what I used to do in Star Craft and Warcraft. Pretend to be my allies friends and build turrets, bunkers, have a bunch of marines, firebats, Zerg and Protoss equivalent if I were them then when I was bored of my allies I'd kill them. Same thing can happen IRL.

Keep posting. You're determined to make this even funnier, and somehow I think it's working.

Definitely so.

I had a chance to go back and watch 2 only a few weeks ago. For all the vitriol and criticisms I had of it beforehand, this time... it was like a breath of fresh air.

I actually sat down and enjoyed the action, the story and the dialogue. I used to think it was bad. Now? I find it all endearing, the bad script, the ridiculousness of flying battlemech R2, Yoda bouncing around like a maniac, everything.

Disney has done something unbelievable; kindle the love for AotC I never had. That is good, I guess. Even if it's a wistful, 'I never knew we had it good' sort and not actual love. Lucas should have stuck around and kept making new movies. He was the genius Star Wars fans didn't deserve.

After TLJ, I'm not paying a cent for Star Wars until Disney loses ownership over it(read: never) unless it's for Legends material. I'll just wait until Solo and Ep. 9 are on TV, which is only going to take two years-max and so that I'll have the luxury of uproariously laughing at the latter without having to worry about bothering other people.

Maybe if I just mooch around for the next ten minutes, Oswald would have no choice but to move to a different spot to take his potshot, and that different shooting point might indirectly result in the Prez not dying. Or he could just call off the attempt upon seeing a possible witness who shows no sign of moving elsewhere.

Of course, there's also the possibility he could just shoot me at first sight so he could get on with his assassination attempt. Tough luck then, I suppose. But hey, it's not like I'm not getting lynched, walking in broad daylight in early-60s Dallas-Fort Worth.

It wasn't that bad. There were fair possibilities that it could turn out to be decent or even pretty good, depending on how the two movies after it would develop it.

Then mighty TLJ torched it as if they were making some kind of statement. 'You saw the prequels and thought Lucas ruined the franchise? Well you ain't seen shit yet boy! Get a load of this one!'

As the other guy said, thanks to TLJ, TFA is now retroactively terrible.

I'm definitely going to watch Ep. IX when it comes out. Unlike the previous many occasions when I saw Star Wars movies for the first time, however, I'll make sure to laugh most uproariously on every single nail on the coffin.

Hell, I already have some pretty good ideas on the details of it. I'll try to see how many I managed to foresee correctly.

Then you're not really 'Korean'.

At least, Koreans will never view you as one.

Ad-lib it into comedy, poke fun at self a bit for being not funny, etc. while low-key insulting the hecklers with insinuations at the same time.

Important thing is to keep it hilarious throughout.

how is that possible? we had an entire unit dedicated to the mongolian empires, considering how massively world-shaping they were; they had direct impact on europe as they're responsible for the spread of the black plague.

Wait, really?

I legit didn't know this, we always just got told it was because of rats. >_>

Fleas on rats specifically.

True. I'm curious where the Mongolians come into play, I've legit never heard of that before. >_>

Something about using corpses that died from the plague(or dying, so still alive) as ammunition with catapults, IIRC. Fire dozens of bodies(riddled with those fleas of course) over the city walls, the defenders think it's just a psychological tactic and think nothing of it, Also selecting plague patients out of their prisoners or their own army, disguising them as refugees and sending them into the city(in exchange, prisoners' families would be granted freedom, wealth, etc.). Mongol hordes relax for a few weeks before resuming attack when most of the city's population are dying from the disease.

Though I've also heard accounts that it was the Islamic empires pre-Mongol invasion that utilized the tactic. Maybe they both did.

I honestly don't believe that. Not only does that seem like old world propaganda, but the extent of the Black Plague spread far beyond the reach of the Mongols (roughly Poland), and didn't show any discernable 'slow down' after it left Mongol territory. It's more likely that it was spread by recent Mercantilism and the naval advancements that allowed trade routes to spread from the Middle East to England. Not to mention that the Silk Road was heavily trafficked long before the Mongols rose to power. The fact is that disease spread over trade routes and people didn't really understand how to stop it or how it spread back then.

The years also don't match, either. IIRC, the Black Death at its height occurred roughly five, six decades after the height of Mongol invasion into eastern Europe. While I personally think it isn't propaganda and that tactic actually happened, I don't believe it resulted in setting off that notorious pandemic; it would have only resulted in localized flare-ups of plague that would recede after the city fell, with whatever few refugees with the disease escaping to other locales not being sufficient to trigger.another epidemic.

The actual likely culprit would be, as you said, trade ships. Especially Venetian traders since Venice was historically very interested in expanding their sphere of influence east into former Byzantine territory.

Force Awakens was retroactively made bad by TLJ

This.

I wasn't terribly impressed with it, and disagreed with some points, but at least it presented some things that I thought were worth expanding upon. It made me intrigued, and as the first movie in a new trilogy that's what it should do.

Then TLJ s*** on it in the most thorough way possible while being s*** itself. It's almost fascinating.

...Not Magikarp? Since you listed Sunkern and not Sunflora, I assumed you're not going to evolve them?

Sunkern

For that matter... Not Unown? Random one with no idea what Hidden Power type it will have until you figure it out by using it? Random type-lock makes it worse IMO.

Luvdisc

...Not something like Wurmple? Plusle/Minun? Feebas? Azurill?

Pachirisu

I think Male Combee would have been a better choice... Or maybe Kricketot?

Patrat

My knowledge about Gen V Pokes is very sketchy/limited, so I'll trust you on this one.

People are really over thinking the new star wars movies.

You might have something there, considering that unlike the others in the series, the newest one gets worse every time you think more about it. At least the others had a limit to that.

Some of them, not all.

Absolutely love football.
Generally like baseball and basketball.
Generally indifferent about soccer.(*)
Don't care about hockey.(**)
LolVolleyball, lolAuto racing, lolTennis
The only way I'm watching golf is if you pay me for it.

(*): Only watch key World Cup and UEFA Champions League matches, and am more than happy to just substitute the entire match with just highlight reels.
(**): Just this year, however, I think I'll watch the finals if I have the free time for it because what Vegas is doing is truly remarkable.

PS. Actually, I would have taken the money even if actual DBZ speeds were attainable. Money is always the no-brainer superior choice in these topics in CE except like 5%, and this is not one of them.

You're not thinking about the money making and money saving potential DBZ flight would allow.

I'd say it's probably safe to assume that no matter what you do with that ability alone, you're not getting 10 million bucks' worth out of it in your lifetime.

Obviously not counting traveling just for the sake of traveling, e.g. 'lol I moved thousands of circles around the planet in the past couple of days just because I was bored, how much money is that in plane tickets?!' which is just stupid and pointless.
