Me and my best friend Arria first bonded over FFVIII. When we first met, she asked me if I'd ever played FFVIII and I (being an arrogant teenager at the time) proudly remarked "Of course! I have ALL the Final Fantasies!" (To be fair, I had all the numbered games that were in America at the time and a few spin-offs like Tactics). She had only played Kingdom Hearts, but was in love with "Leon" and wanted to play the game that he originated from. First time I went to her house was to let her play my copy of FFVIII.

The first time I played FFVIII I had no idea wtf I was doing and ended up grinding to level 100 because that had always been a good idea in previous games.

They talk about Sakutaro having a unique body and thats why Maria and Beatrice couldnt bring him back, since they thought he was gone forever. But Ange can see him in her world. I guess this is more foreshadowing to Sakutaro being mass produced?

A: Holy shit, I havent seen the island in ages. First twilight already?
A: Put down Krauss, because as per usual I dont like him. Kinzo, because I think at this point hes a feature. Or at least his corpse showing up in some manner. Maria wont get it because shes too important. Kyrie wont get it because she hasnt had her chapter of badassery. Lets put Eva, Hideyoshi... and Rosa, because after today, she kinda deserves it. And I dont think the walrus has ever been the first to go, since they always use him to identify bodies, so lets go with him!

She summed it up very nicely! Good job, Arria. And the way she put it, this is building up to the choice in Ep 8. Do you die satisfied you found an answer, or will you die knowing that you will always have something that you want?

I once nicknamed an Oddish Rafflesia before I knew Vileplume's Japanese name was Rafflesia. Also when Sun and Moon came out, I decided to go with Hawaiian-themed names whenever possible. When I caught a Pikipek, I went on a baby name site and looked up names that had to do with sky/birds. On the list was Kahili, meaning 'feather' which I thought was pretty, so I went with it. Imagine my surprise when I find out that Kahili is the Flying-type Elite Four with a Toucannon!

I had to look up Victreebel's Japanese name meaning on Bulbapedia since I had no idea either. I won't spoil it, but don't feel bad. It's a pretty obscure thing imo.

When I mentioned earlier, I forgot to say that in both instances it's actually just pronounced 'e' and one of the cases I've seen it used is for another fictional Erika (from Umineko) who writes her name as .

As an Erika myself, I prefer to go full kanji with my name.

I started learning Japanese years ago (back in high school) because of my anime/video game interest, but I never made it far due to having other hobbies/school/eventually work. I always say "let's go up to (store)"

K: there was a scene a few minutes ago that was all black and white. We didnt see them, but we heard their voices. Maria talking to Ange, and Ange said Sakutaro was just a stuffed animal. I think that may have been a real conversation they had when they were younger. Cuz I noticed Ange sounded really young. Like they told Rina Satou to put on her best loli voice. (As a side note, I dont think Ive ever heard Rina Satou play a loli and its kinda eerie)

Not surprised I guessed poorly on that one. I always assume people like KH more than I do, so I tend to rank it higher for other peoples' guesses. In my case, I played KH1 when it came out and enjoyed it well enough. But then I had friends and cousins who wanted to play it, but all sucked at it and wanted me to do all the fighting. I've probably had to play through the Alice in Wonderland stage at least eight times and somewhere around the fifth time, a part of my brain broke and I decided I couldn't stand the game anymore.

I couldn't get through the tutorial part of KH2. Not sure I can even explain why. Something about it just didn't work out between us.

So yeah, KH1 is both my favorite and the only one I've played to any significant degree.

Although there's a way around it, Bing Images is better now that Google Images has removed the "View Image" option from its results.

I didn't realize this was Google's problem. The last few times I've tried to do that, I blamed it on the specific website I was on. Thank you for informing me that it was Google's problem all along. Now I got an app to put that button back and I feel happier already.

The Sword in the Stone? That was my first exposure to the tale of King Arthur. The walrus was a transformed Merlin, wasn't it? Can't say I remember that movie very well lol, although the Arthur in that story is usually the first thing that comes to mind when people say King Arthur. Probably closer to mythological/historical accuracy than Saber.

"New crazy shower theory thoughts theory for Umineko but first I need info. What symbols make up Ushiromiya and what do they mean? Also in Japanese do they use separate kanji for shrine and temple or are they both represented by 'miya'? You told me during the 2nd episode to think of what Shannon's little mirror episode could represent and while the most likely option is her smuggling the killer onto Rokkenjima, I also like it being representative of her breaking the Ushiromiya family. Which she is doing by letting "Beatrice" in as well as "stealing" one of the possible heirs. But my symbolic nonsense only makes sense is ushiromiya uses the 'miya' kanji."

I wonder how I should respond to this. I think I'll give her the information she requested on kanji. There's like four different kanji I can think of at the top of my head for shrines/temples, with miya () being just one. Don't they call the destroyed shrine on the island 'yashiro' ()? I'll not say anything regarding her idea about Shannon. Maybe just praise her for doing some deep thinking.
