K181
03/08/18 1:28:14 PM

The story of 2016 was that someone somehow had to find a way to win. I'm still of the opinion that Clinton was the worst Democrat to run against any Republican and Trump was worst Republican to run against any Democrat. And before you bring up any notion of Trump having a surge of support, as a proportion of the overall electorate Trump got about as many votes as either Romney or McCain, so if he had a surge that means he had a big exodus as well.

Run two historically unpopular candidates against each other, and in a two-party system that means one of them has to somehow find a way to win. I hate Bernie, but I think he would've won, and Biden would've crushed Trump. And if Clinton had gone up against just about any other Republican other than Cruz (who I'm convinced would've just creeped the fuck out of almost everybody), she probably would've lost easily.

I'm no legal expert, but I'd be inclined to think that they'll rule in Trump's favor for three reasons:

1) Twitter is not a public forum. It's a privately owned entity and blocking people on Twitter for any reason is a perfectly fine from the site's rules perspective and the government doesn't have overview on that.

2) Users that are blocked on Twitter still have every means available to them to find out what Trump says about anything and to direct their disapproval at him in their own way as well. And they're also perfectly able to say anything they want about Trump on that very platform as well.

3) "Freedom of speech" doesn't mean that government officials have to pay attention to people. Would him muting other people be infringing on their free speech rights as well?

There has been a push for them to just be called "Plutoids," which I am more in favor of.

Because consumers are dumb & bought a PS2 to play DVDs

Yes, consumers are dumb for liking a system that offered a cheap DVD option and had one of the strongest libraries in videogame history to that date. Good hot take.

do you really believe that the ps2 had the strongest library in video game in history in the year 2000?

and it is very unfortunate imo that the ps2 killed the dreamcast because it could play dvds, given that most ppl on this board like their systems for gaming moreso than multimedia. everyone whined when the xbox one went all in on that stuff

A) I didn't say that it had the strongest, I said it was one of the strongest.
B) For a release console, the PS2 had a staggeringly huge number of games on the horizon that made it readily obvious that they were going to offer a huge game library, so it wasn't hard to prognosticate that it was going to hit the ground running a lot better than the Dreamcast did.
C) As the other poster mentioned, the backwards compatibility part didn't hurt.
D) And actually, the DVD capability, if anything, was relatively underutilized. Late generation polls showed that actually a significant proportion of the console's ownership only used it to play games and not DVDs.
E) And even if that wasn't the case, what's so wrong about multipurpose consoles?

I doubt it. Force Awakens was arguably the most hyped movie of all time, and it just barely cracked the $2 billion mark. I'm confident that it will easily pass a billion, and might even pass the $1.5 billion mark, but that extra half a billion is a bit of a reach, imho. It'll be a staggeringly profitable film, but just don't think it'll crack the top three of all time.

If anything, I'd even say that the original Avengers film was more heavily hyped than this one, and that one just barely passed the $1.5b mark.
