I'm not the biggest audiophile, but the sound quality is a serious degradation over the SNES original, not to mention that they made the game easier. It's a large part of the reason why I bought it on the 3DS. I actually didn't know they made it easier. There is a section of the book that has short sentences that are spaced out to have them be on their own pages. This means you flip through pages quickly as you read them and that pace matches the frantic action that is occurring in the story. Something like that specifically is not of a gimmick, but using short sentences with straightforward wording will let the reader go through them quickly and picks up the pace or emphasizes some of the wording more than usual.
