if you read sword of truth, then go for it. My god those got bad.

WoT gets pretty damn bad in the middle 4 or 5 books but after he died, Sanderson came in and gives it an amazing ending trilogy that makes it all worth it

Have you played Final Fantasy Dimensions? It's a mobile game but has a job system similar to V and is actually really good.

hmm okay, I like a good challenge.

Valkyria Chronicles is not shooter-y really, any more than point at someone to attack. Its similar to xcom or final fantasy tactics. Its a turn based strategy RPG with a really good story but sort of weak customization.(you level each class as a group) However there are some REALLY sad parts so probably pass

Anyway give me a while i might come up with something

Edit: Also with Amalur I agree that it did really feel like a single player MMO, I think that was what made me stop playing.
