In tetris multiplayer, if you get at least 2-4 lines, you give the other player 1-3 line blocks. What most experience tetris players do is utilize the T-spin that will guarantee at least 2 lines so you can put pressure on the opponent, which is why most of them will fill the sides and leave just enough room to T-spin to victory.
