yea so I'm a hoarder in games in general and it kills me a little inside every time I've had to get rid of equipment for some other equipment

A lot of my issues with BOTW are 100% on me and I see the logic for why it works. It just doesn't for me. Still a fun game though, I still like exploring and doing shrines. And like I said before, characters like Sidon and Kass and the like really make the game for me.

I don't mind that though! I know it's a personal thing but it still brings the game down for me, it's just more a nuisance than anything else. I'm not appreciating the weapons when all I'm worried about is them running out and having a stockpile of whatever is not about to break!

long answer: I think just to give them the sense of being "reborn" but still connected, since they basically wanted to become whole again, or at least fulfilled. And then the X plays in later with the whole x-blade so you can kind of retroactively use that as an explanation too.

I mean it is good! I don't want you to think it isn't! But it's more the limitations of the PSP hold it back from 1 and 2 status, although they do a HELL of a job working with those limitations. It's super polished.

Super Mario Party looks promising, the character dice blocks kind of throw me off a bit but if you REALLY want I guess you can personally intact a rule that character blocks are not allowed to make it more of an even game so that's fine.
