I would say I havent failed in life. Yet here I am.

Dont project your own issues into others.

True.

Being a participant at a virtual social forum doesn't necessarily or definitively assess a person's success or lack thereof. There are many people here who are matured, successful and socially active IRL.

I hardly participate in these things myself but I do visit regularly.

I have a good paying job, stable and loving familial relationship, good friends and I have a partner in life.

I just finished paying off my lot and I've just returned from a vacation overseas. Life is pretty comfortable right now.

Being here doesn't make us nerds; not necessarily at least. XD

Tantrum.....none of us has ever had this in our lives. We've always been the obidient children. And that's because we were taught from the a very young age that there are things that we cannot have simply because we want them. And if we choose to transcend these limitations, we have to work for everything we get in life.

For punishments, my parents never let us be idle. So the "Go to your room! You're grounded!" didn't apply.

We were made to do all the household chores and then some. Working with your hands and working up a sweat is a good way to distract the mind and keep things in perspective. Of course, this is all AFTER we have a talk on why we were being punished and how it's justifiable. If the child doesn't understand why her/his behaviour is unacceptable, then the punishment is pointless.

On topic, since she isn't your daughter, this really isn't your battle to fight. Inform your parents. She's throwing a fit because she knows she will get attention. Don't give it to her. Ignore or walk away (at least pretend to). Or pretend that you're calling security to remove her from the premises XD. I know someone who did this to her child.

Personally, I think the child needs to be taught lessons on humility, respect and responsibility.

Everyone has thoughts, impulses and compulsions. But we do not act on all of them, do we? Exercise self-control and try to think from the perspective of the girl instead if you find it difficult to stop yourself.

Think about her feelings on the matter and the potential awkward situation you'd put her through. Is it worth it? Is it good to put her through that?

Often times, people are too self-absorbed and do not think of the others they'd affect. This is the reason they make all the wrong choices.

I usually don't. I have liked 4 girls before this, and only the 1st one knew that I liked her. That was because I told a friend that I liked her, and he eventually spilled the beans.

Only my 2 closest friends know who girls 1-3 are, and girls 2 and 3 are only known because they were able to take the few hints I gave and find out themselves. I guess I am just tired of keeping all my thoughts to myself. I just want to tell someone, so my mind is not burdened.

I understand. You need someone to confide in. Tell your trusted friend(s). But don't put the burden on her; most especially if it could affect her job. News of you confessing your feelings spread like wildfire and will inevitably affect her. So think on those before making a decision.

Good points. Although I would say if she was single I'd be giving completely different advice because it's better to find out the answer than keep questioning "what if?".

That's true. Life is about taking chances. But not recklessly. We need to balance this with being practical as well.

And she's not single. That's why she's unavailable and not to mention, she could lose her job even if she accepted his feelings.

The reason why verbal abuse is voted by some people as being worse is because often times, it's not done by random people. It's done by the people we love and who mean the world to us. It creates a feeling of betrayal. And because it's from the ones we love, the abuse becomes believable to the abused. The victim loses confidence and it creates dependency that again results in more abuse.

And then these things just escalate to physical abuse too.

Verbal abuse from a family member is not easy to escape. It's not as if you can just run away and hide somewhere. No. In this case, you live with the tormentor. The home where you're supposed to feel safe becomes a minefield. It's toxic and the effects are longlasting. And that's because the words stick and inevitably shape one's personality, attitude and choices in life.
