While I don't have much to say on the debate at hand, I know I will never own another pit bull again. The conditions in which we kept ours was fine, that is, until we had to move in with a friend for about 3 months, and thus, our pit was exposed to harsher conditions such as being chained outside during inclement weather. That's when he went from harmless to full-out hunter, killing rodents in the area, biting humans and picking fights with other dogs.

I can admit that it appears as if the drastic shift in my pit bull's lifestyle (like he was human or something) most likely contributed to his aggressive nature afterwords, but just the fact that he was so easily provoked is enough for me to not want to chance living through that again. Just the peace of mind taking my dog on a walk around the block was shattered when I knew that any and everything that dared threatened him would set him off.

I'd compare his temperament to the one friend we all have that's great to be around, but we know the party's over if someone bumps into him/steps on his shoes. Hot heads are prone to ruining a lot of fun, overall. See: little man complex. That's how I feel about pit bulls. Sure, they're awesome dogs, but don't piss them off, and sorry, but that's just not worth it for me.

So you chained him to a post in the freezing cold and you expected him to be grateful? Do tell. Its almost like owning a pet is a responsibility and that neglect changes them somehow...

I figured I would get this kind of response. While I did say I can see how my treatment of my pit bull certainly attributed to his aggressiveness, my point was that I don't want a dog (or breed of dog) that is prone to such a drastic shift in temperament. For the sake of relevance, I did not mention my aforementioned friend's house also had a dog that my dog had to share a space with. He was a lab, and he fought as well, but only when provoked (by my dog, usually) and never against complete strangers. That's the type of dog I'm used to: ones that fight solely to defend themselves, not merely for the sake of sport.

I see your points regarding external factors such as environment, type of ownership, etc. contributing the the dog's aggression levels. I, however, due to my own experiences, feel like pit bulls are hot heads. Sure, I may have shortened the fuse on my pit bull, and I can take ownership of that, but that doesn't simply excuse his behavior in the months afterword.

Dude, your dog went from being the sole pet to in a house where it was welcomed inside to being chained outside through inclement weather where it was forced to compete for food with another dog. You're acting like that's a minor thing but that's pretty fucking huge lol. I believe I've already made a post in this topic about owners that just refuse to understand why their pets snap "for no reason".

Conditions were hard for everyone at the time, fyi. Tell me why it's acceptable for a dog to snap and not a human being?

The big issue is that pitbulls are fucking strong, so when they get upset, you know about it. Treat your dogs like they aren't flaming shitbags, and they turn out decent. Who knew that neglecting an animal by leaving it out in the fucking cold would make it an angry and defensive animal? There is probably more to share considering that isn't even considered bad, but no point in prying.

no shit on the strong part. once I had to move in with my mom and her husband and he refused to let me have the dog inside. first he screwed this tie down into a beam of the overhang of his shed. first time lightning struck she yanked that son of a bitch clean out. and another time she nearly chewed completely threw a piece of steel cable (i'm still pissed about that. it fucked up her teeth) eventually though he gave up and my mom took my side and insisted the dog be allowed inside.

it was heart warming in a sense though every time she broke free she just came to the front door wanting in. she didn't run off. try attacking the outside cats or anything, she just wanted to be near me.

My cousins fight their pitbulls and the shit is despicable, but when not treated like shit they are some of the kindest dogs, won't even fight back to defend their lives honestly. Hopefully, pitbulls stop being gotten by shitty owners, but with goofy people constantly propagating the myth, the terrible owners gonna keep believing it unfortunately.

it will move on to another breed eventually I can remember when rottweilers where that dog.

also from all i've heard different breeds have different needs. I was told with mine, that it was best to play with them often. the one I have thats full pit, I can say this is true all she wants is attention but you don't give it to her and you risk her starting to chew things like the blankets on your bed. my other has attacked another dog but the dog attacked her first and food was involved. but on the other hand i've seen her play peacfully with a dog half her size

I think that was actually the first hack/glitch/exploit I've even used, and it's not something I do often. But yeah...nah. Not happening.

well nintendo actually thought correctly loads of people do buy both. as a kid I got lucky had a brother who also played the games. so it made good christmas presents he'd get one i'd get the other. we only played up to gold/silver though. funny come to think of it, it was slightly unfair I ended up getting both yellow and crystal (that was the third game in the gold/silver right?) and he didn't. but I was nice enough to let him play through it after I did.

Pretty much. This is actually a very good reason for him to quit (after lining up something else of course), as he has now effectively been told that he's not moving up in this company.

No.

He isn't moving up in the company because he isn't putting in the effort required for the promotion. You aren't owed a promotion just for sticking around long enough. And you know what's going to happen at his next job? There will be another MICHAELCOLE who is better and more willing to put in the effort for the promotion.

I agree with this. first job I ever got a promotion at, I had only been there a year. there was a chick who had been there 9 years and never had even gotten so much as a raise. she was just a mediocre employee that was only worth keeping around because she showed up for work and did the bare minimal required to not get canned.

tl;dr There is more water wasted from long showers.

A ton of people just don't care and spend ridiculously long times showering. Just take a bath please, baths are still wasteful but some people dick around in showers for too long. And don't even get me started on wasted food (it's something like 50% of all produced food in the United States alone).

To survive as a species humans have to inevitably damage the planet, but the rate at which we do it is ridiculous. it's important to call out what is really wasteful vs. what is mostly insignificant. otherwise we could say farting damages the ozone - yeah it does, but it's so insignificant compared to other polluters lol (i.e. visit a cattle ranch; incidentally, not eating meat for a week is equivalent to not driving for a year- I love eating meat and won't stop lol (it's also got nutrients not found elsewhere) but that really puts diet + environment into perspective...)

On the plus side, in cities near bodies of water, water can't really be "wasted" because there's so much of it and it naturally replenishes. What's worse is gardening, like some cities in the US waste water with sprinklers on the daily. The city is in a desert. There is not meant to be water there. The water from underground aquifers are not coming back (at least not for a looong time). So droughts will happen sooner than people think, and when it does its a dj khaled congrats you played yourself meme. It's a renewable resource after all, but as with any resource ppl should be more conscious of their consumption of it. Too much of anything is a bad thing...

always killed me when my mom would give me shit for taking quick showers. i'd just tell her all I need is a bit over 5 minutes to scrub myself down. you want me to stare at the wall for an extra 10?

I kinda went "uhh, um, uhh" like what i cant take that but he just left before i could say anything.

Ive never had this happen to me before really, so this is cool.

I've had people shake my hand to give me tips before. But usually, it's just a $20. Haha. It was after Target banned tips back when I was in high school. The customers knew and still snuck us tips.

yeah when I worked at a fast food place people would sneak me tips. unless you count this group of pleasant old people blatantly bringing me stuff like cookies and rum cake. but on a christmas eve I did get a 20 dollar tip, guy buried it under some of the trash on his tray and told me to look through it before dumping it and said merry christmas and walked out.

just to clarify this particular place actually would hire some one (me in this case) to stay in the dinning room and keep it clean at all times (and the bathrooms), and we encouraged customers to leave their trash on the table for me to clean up. I was basically a cross between a busboy and janitor. actually the easiest job I ever had.

Most martial arts weapons aren't useful unless you plan on potentially killing your target, although a gun more effectively deters a person than countless other weapons. And you don't need to be 20 feet away from a target to shoot them, not to mention that drawing a weapon is a concern with every weapon. As for cops carrying batons and tasers, that's because they don't want to resort to lethal force which isn't a reflection upon the weapon. The whole point of martial arts is to subdue your opponent as quickly as possible with as little damage to you as possible. Guns are the perfect weapon in this regard.

Swords throughout history have been backup weapons. Samurai in particular preferred the bow and polearms. Hands and legs, while good for close-combat melee and surprise attacks, are basically useless against most weapons and are therefore one of the worst types of weapons. They're also *heavily* prone to self-harm, which defeats much of their purpose as weapons. Hell, if you don't tape your fists properly going into a fight, you break bones in your hand.

I have actually broke a bone in hand punching someone before. doc told me too its unlikely it will ever fully heal and will be prone to rebreaking easily

also what you said about swords is very true. even knights preferred lances or pole arms over swords. reason being was the range. seems like a lot of advancements in weaponry has come down to how can I strike my opponent from further away.

You'd still have to find those like-minded people to put together this "guild," so you're kind of back to square one.

Right, although the internet is a better place to look than the place I live in.

13 of the consoles 12 of the games if ports/on a different console counts. i'd say 13 games but i'm highly unsure if the version of pac-man I had was the same exact version that was on the atari. where as I'm very certain the grand theft auto V I had was exactly the same as the one on ps3 and sonic adventure being a port to the console I had it on, i'm also pretty sure it was exactly the same as well. if those don't count though then 10 games.

also kinect adventures being 360's best seller? wtf

HWY 55. formerly Andy's burgers shakes and fries. just looked it up. started 1991. I can't speak for its popularity but last I checked they where expanding which is why they changed their name as they ran into another burger place named andy's and said fuck it and didn't want a legal battle.

really good place imo if you can handle the 50's theme they are going for to the point of only playing 50s music on the radio. also the fact its barely fast food. they cook everything by order but they aim to get it to you in under 5 minutes. back in the day they even made the female staff wear poodle skirts. i've actually seen where the original location was as it started in the town I lived in when I was really young.

You, sir, do not know cats.

I've seen a cat go to the back door and want out while it was raining, get let out and be like, "Oh shit i better go back in" and then 5 seconds later do the same thing about three times in a row. This was a cat of seemingly average cat intelligence. And I also live with two cats now

Not an intelligence issue, it's a matter of "I've got to go.... eh, fuck it, raining. But was it really raining that hard? Yeah, I can't do this. But I've really got to go so let me try this again... fuck it, I'll go later."

tbh, we've all had "Was it really that bad?" moments where we realize it was and then question it again.

i've had cats like that and they all knew we had a litter box and used it often themselves.

i've had cats that wanted in and out back and forth on perfectly fine days too. I think they are just fickle

Tbf the term was coined in like the mid 1800 or so. It might be the same as no one recognizing speakeasy or bathtub mint julep. (Though if you're a Simpsons fan you should.)

my mom used teetotaler a lot. so I didn't know it was that super uncommon. shes used other terms though like stick in the mud to describe the same kind of person. I forget right now the other terms i've heard regarding that kind of person

there is a middle ground between being a teetotaler and overusing I hope you know. I did indeed drink a lot as a teen. I still drink but not nearly as much. mostly because of hangovers though. used to not get them but even on the rare occasion I did back then I could still manage to function. going to school and doing actual work are two different things.

Sending food back to the kitchen is a great way to have your food messed with in unsanitary ways.

chances of that are possible but low. at least in kitchens I worked in, most people don't feel its worth getting potentially fired over. though one guy at the BK I worked with loved screwing with a co-workers order. nothing unsanitary though. shit like putting 30 pickles on the burger, or a quarter inch worth of mayo.

Id be mad theres so many calories in mayo!

I don't think the dude gave a fuck if it pissed the other dude off. they where highschool kids and they disliked one another, but company policy dictated we where not allowed to make our own food. not that I cared after getting my order wrong several times I made it myself anyways because i'm not going to waste what little break I got trying to correct an order.

South Park.

not sure I get what you mean by south park. I stopped watching that show a long time ago.

There was a Facebook episode. Everyone got mad at Stan for now accepting their request. Like from his parent and grandparents. Then random friends of friends. What you said reminded me of that.

didn't his dad get mad at him. think I recall that bit. i'm vaguely recalling the episode now. but i'm mostly remembering his dad coming by his room and asking him why he hasn't

Yeah. Then goes, "I guess we're not friends." Just to get him to accept. Then it starts happening with everybody.

yeah with me its just outside my immediate family. they get pissed easily and like to gossip. I don't know why I care though. guess just because I generally don't like upsetting people if its super easy not to. I ain't going to go completely out of my way though lol. got into a argument with my aunt over facebook to the point I'm honestly surprised she didn't delete me.

Yet, the article you pulled that from also quoted another study that said 70% of abortions are by women who make make below the federal poverty level.

Well this is the only part I saw when I made me comment ~ I didnt see why theyd lie and if they said both and other authors are saying rich and some are saying poor, maybe its harder to track than people act

Btw I like how just because Im sfainst abortion you all started calling me he like I magicslly lost my ovaries for this

also as i've said in at least one other topic. those with money can pay someone to produce a study to say whatever the hell they want. I assume its not that hard to do, get your numbers from a small specific group and expect people to believe the same ratio applies to everywhere despite another area being the complete opposite.

edit: on your last point I knew you where a girl. I thought about correcting the others but said fuck it. cause I didn't see the point.
