That's a shitty thing to do, but I also wonder why whenever birth control comes up nobody ever talks about the fact that condoms are cheap (free if you go to planned parenthood). It's like the default assumption in cases like this are "well nobody's going to use a condom anyway. Without access to birth control women everywhere are just going to get knocked up"

It's its core, the left sees income redistribution and taking from the wealthy as something that should at least be a side effect of all policy, hence there's little if any need to do a cost / benefit analysis. Being smart about your sex life and acknowledging low cost options available to you doesn't redistribute wealth, so bring on the "free to me" pills and abortions.

Sorry, but I see it as the opposite. Denying certain voices that have suffered the same problem shows hashtags and movements like these are not about the problem, but in making it all about themselves and how much they've suffered. This can be for attention or to control the conversation so that only certain solutions are up for consideration, but either way it's about saying "I know you've suffered too and I want to be empathetic, but it's all about me now so fuck off."

Few stories about time travel don't act like there's no danger or unforeseen possibilities. It's rarer to see one that has time travel as somehow perfectly safe.

Though the specific idea is a decent one, even fairly plausible. On one side Hitler was a catalyst for a lot of civil unrest that would have blown up over something, and on the other, was possessed of ...let's say eccentricities not helpful to the war effort. Hitler just did so much bad it's hard to imagine he might have been the lessor of 2 evils. Or more likely, people don't see the whole puzzle and think it's that one bad piece.

It's the idea that makes me miss the first 2 seasons of Sliders.

It's probably been said, but they thought the core values of the whole country had changed because they stayed in their tiny corner of it. "everyone" believed in gay marriage, trans rights, and picking your own gender. "everyone" loved Obamacare and there were no unintended side effects like rising premiums. And even when they didn't have everyone, most big names were supporting fighting climate change and supported suppressing vile hate speech like "I didn't like Ghostbusters 2016". Then like the coyote in the cartoon, found their endless road was painted on the wall.

Trump may be an agrivant, but like Obama's race to the other guys I doubt they'd be much better with anyone else.

I think the problem is we define success as being filthy rich, not earning a comfortable middle class lifestyle. My house is paid for. I'm out of debt. I have more games than I can play. I'm successful enough (especially since most people thought I'd be on disability all my life). Others seem to see anyone with more than them, or earning at all with less effort as some personal attack or form of oppression and are never really happy.

It kinda is. I hate the notion of hard work makes you better. Fuck that, all of human advancement has been about lessening the work we do.

The culture has changed. Labor saving was supposed to take away the drudgery of survival so as to focus on things we enjoy. ie: I now have the time to become a great painter. I now have the time to read everything I've every wanted. I now have the time to learn new skills for my own enjoyment.

We don't do that as much anymore, often looking at people strangely if they do their best at anything, or like a challenge. Worse, since we haven't gotten rid of work yet, it's infectedin to those areas. Why take a hard career. Why do my job to the best of my abilities. Why should I work harder for more reward. Why learn to do what I can pay someone to do.

It's not just conservative Christians, but conservative *insert any Abrahamic religion here* are anti-premarital sex and anything that promotes having it, they are against even if it's counter productive. It's been proven that getting rid of things like planned parenthood only increases the birth rate of unwanted babies, the exact opposite of what they want. I mean yes in a perfect world abstinence would be the perfect answer, but so would things like 100% socialism. But no, we don't live in that perfect world, we live in the real world that by making it harder for people to get access to preventative things like birth control it only creates an environment that only hurts everyone.

The thing is, and the thing that makes me sympathetic to the Republican side of this is, what is the imperfect hing? People. People that do things they've been told not to do and why they should not be doing it, but do it anyway. We try and duck the issue that unwanted pregnancies are why abstinence was pushed as a good idea and safe sex is brought up everywhere to instead act entitled to an active sex life even if someone else has to buy the condoms. Why be smart and responsible when you can get someone else to buy things that take risk off the table?

My response is the same: so you're fine with Prejudice, just not a lack of power.

I have never seen that statement come up except to try and defend behavior that by all appearances is judging and negatively stereotyping someone for their race, gender, etc, but it's to the "right" people done by the "oppressed" so it's okay. It gives the whole progressive movement a "do as I say, not as I do" vibe to it.

Sociologists are inherently insecure and love to come up with unnecessarily antagonist terminology to push their agenda in a way that still convinces simple-minded people like averagejoel that they're being academic. So, we get nonsense like this redefinition of "racism," along with terms like "white privilege" and "white fragility." While I don't even disagree with the underlying situation that some of these things are explaining, those terms are all manipulative horseshit that end up being co-opted by racists and idiots to push their narrative. This is one of the reasons modern sociology is a laughing stock.

I don't think it's academic so much as pragmatic. Like I say, they got caught behaving in a way they say is bad and are left with 3 choices

1) Change their behavior
2) realize it isn't easy to do and be more forgiving of others' failures to do so
3) come up with some way to justify it.

Guess what wins. Privilege and fragility do the same thing. Privilege lets you accuse racism without naming specific wrongs, persons, or actions that can be brought to account, and is done to both protect from rebuttal and explanation, and to ensure that the problem is never really solved so that it can continue to be used whenever you want something changed. Fragility is the usual insult of a bullying shithead that for all the talk of empathy and respect for others, are indifferent to the opinions and negative outcomes to anyone outside their chosen groups (if they don't enjoy making the evil white devils hurt). It's another "do as I say" thing that make me say "why should I give a shit about your opinions when you show no respect for mine."

Nothing is academic. It's all weasel words to avoid being held to a standard they set for others so they can keep the outrage train going and not get called out like the anti-gay pastor caught with a gay hooker.

DDD was the best of the nintendo line, but that isn't saying a lot. On the plus side it has an actual story structure akin to the main games instead of missions, and it's original worlds, not rehashes. It mostly controls well and sets up KH3 well enough.

On the downside, the story is even beyond my level of tolerance for convolutedness. The dual protagonist thing was annoying enough in BBS (fill the journal 3 times my ass) and now it's on a timer forcing switching when you don't want to. Then it threw a ton of touch screen game mechanics at us just because they could and it breaks combat flow. And of course that applies to the virtual pets, er, pokemon, er, Dream eaters all requiring leveling through long grinding and / or dopey mini games.

All of this was based on my 3DS version. I haven't gotten to this on PS4 yet.

Because they should.

Why even have a police force if the citizens are expected to be the crime stoppers?

It's more speaking about cultural views that lead too many to think crime and gang life are the only options because the system will just fuck them over if they do things like stay and school and try to get a good job.

There's a lot of problems in the idea. Logistics for even small crossovers like the Arrowverse stuff prove difficult as actors can only work at certain times depending on their schedules, then over the long term, increases their workload as they have to cameo or guest in one or more shows while doing their own.

For small bits they're kind of fun romps, but over a long term, it would probably lose more people than it gained. It's hard keeping up on one show these days, but when plot or character development is on another show, people tend to not try. The MCU is getting away with it now, but one day people will complain about having to see a new Iron Man movie to know why he's doing something in Avengers. As a tournament angle, I'd just be afraid they'd let audience voting or forum opinion to decide who wins.

Then you get into trouble with home video releases and syndication rights and it all becomes a mess. The closest I think we'll get is if Flash and Arrow share a villain for their respective seasons, but are mostly kept separate for everything but the finale.

The left wants people to have higher wages, and people are withholding talking certain jobs until they pay more. But instead of seeing this as labor trying to exercise power over capital, the left allow and encourage illegals or come in and take those jobs for lower wages like scabs crossing a union picket line while the right says send them back so the labor surplus can be lowered and employees have more power to demand higher wages.
