People in society need to take this seriously. People commit suicide at much higher rates than the rates of those in 3rd world countries. It's no joke.

maybe they take it too seriously. sometimes you just can't take it anymore. and depression is chemical. it makes your brain more susceptible to dwelling on negative thoughts. I think when someone offs themselves it is a combination of the bad chemicals in their brain, teamed up with events in their life that make them think they can't go on.

I was actually a little jealous of the Losers Club in IT. Sure they had to fight a being of pure evil. but they also had a really great group of friends to lean on

Dealing with it would be very costly to people, both in terms of medical costs, but in changing societal and cultural factors that heavily contribute to it or enable it.

In order to solve depression, you must find out what's causing it. When you do, try to take the appropriate action to solve it.

You can't be depressed about bad things happening in your life. Depression is something that just happens.

In order to solve depression, you must find out what's causing it. When you do, try to take the appropriate action to solve it.

Again, you can't "solve" it, it's something that just happens for no reason. Nothing "causes" it in the way you're thinking of.

There is usually a cause, or contributing factor to depression in some shape or form. Whether that be lack of exercise, the food you eat, or past life experiences being few of the most causes. The first step is to acknowledge that there is a problem with your depression, and work towards what you can try to do differently in your life to overcome this.

I've been down this path before, and i know exactly how it feels. It is very possible to overcome this, and im willing to help anyone who is in need.

That's the worst advice of the day. Depressed people should get together with other depressed people! So yeah you can spiral even deeper into depression! Yeah don't ever talk to CE about your depression issues. You get answers like join the army (I've heard this said to a guy who has a job and a life who happens to be depressed... like what?), just go exercise (to people whose entire problem is that they can't muster the energy to exercise), or just go find a girlfriend or something (to people who probably have confidence issues and are guys women generally find to be too full of baggage). There's no simple 1 sentence answer to depression. If that were the case, there wouldn't be depression to begin with

i think part of the reason why is that it's a hard disease to measure

so people don't take it too seriously even though the effects and symptoms are very real
