| gunplagirl 02/11/18 9:51:58 PM #9 | The reason there's only a few with really high usage is because skill caps, learning curves and of course basic toolkits. In 6 for instance, characters like asuka could literally poke with combos relatively safely against most of the roster. Whereas characters like Roger Jr may not have safe pokes but they can combo easily after a proper counter. Thing is, that comes with its own set of problems. To use Roger Jr's counters, you need to know the hit box, zone and priority of the enemy's attacks and use a correct attack to punish them, with start up time and everything for both attacks taken into account. Asuka could whiff the first hit then cancel or go into a different attack branch entirely. So Roger would ideally block the attacks then punish during a safe time between attacks if the asuka keeps attacking. But there's a lot of other characters who can do that same thing, but combo off of a block. Roger, not necessarily. That then comes down to mind games and whiffs and all... And therefore the thinking game that Roger Jr needs to play competently is beyond most players. And even the ones who can do such things would still likely see better success as a character like asuka.
