I mean, sure, at one point it was THE game. And I still enjoy it but other games took the strategy aspect through time and made deeper games such as football, risk and even fire emblem. I mean it's only natural of course. So why does chess get this stigma of being a game of the wittiest?

Just for the first two moves in a game, there's 400 different possible outcomes (16 pawn moves and 4 knight moves each, respectively).

But sure clearly fire emblem is more complex.

I mean, it's not like there are more combinations of moves in a game of chess then there are believed to be atoms in the universe, or anything...

I'm not disagreeing with your general premise (chess has more depth than things listed in OP), but there are more than Shannon's number (~1.2*10^176) singleton 60 card MTG decks, let alone if we allow for other deck configurations. Even if you fix two decks, there are 10^163 ways for those decks to be ordered.

That doesn't mean there's more depth though, because we can make rough equivalences between decks, games, etc. and human tendencies that limits the space of actual play. Chess isn't deep because there are lots of possible sequences of moves. It's deep because of the topology of the sequences of moves: At any given time there are lots of LEGITIMATE choices available.
