And for positions that women do want to go into, do something else like implement some sort of blind assessment system where qualifications and other relevant factors are presented in such a way that the identity, gender, or other physical traits of the competing candidates cannot be identified.

That's how you begin to effect change on an unlevel playing field. Not by changing a zero-sum game to completely favor one side, but by creating a truly level playing field where it's not the name and biology of the person that determines if they get the position or not, but only if they are truly qualified for it and exceed the other candidates.
