I played shadowverse like casually to a2 or something. I thought about getting to masters but IMO despite the massive amount of free cards they gave you the cost of making a deck off set that. Like I think in terms of mechanics its one of the best card games Ive played online.

I also played esl for a while at high legend and was pretty much the first users of token Aggro at high legend (it was pretty much non existent until I made a list) and of a sorcerer combo set. However Im hesitant to suggest people get into it because the community promotion and management by bethseda is awful. Several top players (like me) have quit because it just took a long time to do anything on that front. Also because of some twitch fiasco after I already quit.

I actually think like paladin might be the hardest class. A lot of bosses just pure counter you and the +1/1 is not really that good against a lot of final bosses.

I dont normally like killing humanoids but like the ones in games that do something bad to animals like dogs or cats normally get assassinated from me somehow. Like in dos2 this one due abuses A dog and I went to great lengths to make sure he died (which was hard to do without some annoying consequences)

I play some secret mage and like I dont have the weapon and I gas out constantly I think the archetype now really needs it because decks like priest and warlock have such massive amounts of heal and mage is not a really board centric class like rogue or hunter.

The warlock weapon is basically used simply because the 3/9 taunt thing is Op when cheated out. Some people have already talked about how they might nerf it (along with corridor creeper)

Land of the lustrous

For me its less of the memory loss and more of what the memory loss seems to represent within the confines of the show. I dont think it would come to a surprise to anyone that I prefer base pho. But I was okay with the changes because it happens as the show is moving and because they happen with key story moments.

Also the greatest aspect of sindonia as a whole was the sound . Possibly the best sound direction in anime overall.

Spoilers for land of the lustrous

Like I viewed land of the lustrous as kind of a coming of age story with a bunch of other stuff mixed in. IMO its about ideas and character versus like having a set story in place. Pho was willing to do anything to help cinn even if it meant changing herself and in the process kinda lost the part of her who really cared. Like the key parts of where pho has growth is marked by traumatic moments which under normal circumstances would rock someone. the memory loss aspect was implemented extremely well imo. Like I think you can take a lot of things from the overall package of the show (somewhat akin to show like Sunday without god or chaika the coffin Princess) but Im not sure how much was intentional and or how much was a coninidence.

Oh if you want a good like indicator of how bad most hs players are just read a twitch chat during a high profile game. Last night purple (I think ) didnt play a free explosive rune vs a warlock into turn 5 to play around lackey. The chat all thought it was a misplay because chat is like rank 26

Ironically though I do think he was in a poor enough position where he had to play the secret if he wanted to win because he drew poorly in all his games too. So chat was right in that he should of played the secret but not for the correct reasoning.

Also had a match versus a jade druid and like I stalled him out til the end and waited until he was kinda low and dropped lyra/radiant after he double swiped on my velen.

So I queue up again and it's the same druid but this time he put in earthern scales (were not in his deck before, because I saw his entire deck) and now he's just gaining armor like crazy. Like at one point he had maybe 80 total health. In any case his jades are getting pretty big but I had sheep all, psychic scream, etc and I'm like waiting for him to commit. I'm forced to play lyra and radiant a little earlier than I wanted to and cast some spells and I get Thought Steal AND Devour Mind. So the thought steal gives me a jade idol AND Fandral. I shuffle in the idol for another spell though and just wait.

Skip forward a lot of turns and finally I can devour mind and I grab 3 more jade idols. Next turn I clear and the turn after I drop fandral and just spam jade idols. THe druid had absolutely no way to kill it either so it lived for 2 turns and I still had Velen. Oh, I still had psychic scream too. The druid eventually conceded. Honestly, I think it was possible for him to win (although unlikely).

Like even glass reflection someone who has been very firm on his anti piracy stance, while he would never say to pirate, you can tell in his tone in his anime strike/nf video that hes understanding because of those circumstances.

I'm a fan of movies before star wars so while I can understand the issues people have with it from like a fan standpoint they don't really bother me. There were some parts where I was like "why are they doing this" but otherwise I like the rather different approach they had. Like I also enjoyed all the added humor they tossed into the movie.

I still don't think it's better than the original trilogy but it's better than the prequels and rogue one+Force Awakens.

I actually think the deck is better now because i think it's very strong versus the other big deck of the format (cubelock and control warlock) and now I think it has an even matchup versus Big Priest (due to psychic scream) and is favored versus basically all aggro/tempo variants besides Mage. It is weak to Jade and big druid still but those are not being played much atm.

Best Drama/Action
I think this is another interesting category that is probably going to be determined by watchrate more than anything. I could see any of these winning.

Attack on Titan Season 2
Overall I thought this was a good show. I do think that it was weaker than the first season mainly due to run time and being somewhat lacking in the action areas compared to it too. But it makes up for it with great story and character developments.

My Hero Academia S2
If any show was an example of how something that is well executed can turn into a great show this is it. Hero Aca doesn't really do anything out of the ordinary but it just does things very well. It has no real flaws and taps into most likable shounen tropes without fucking it up (looking at you black clover). The cast is a bit too big to win that category and none of them qualify for best new character. Best girl is Froppy btw.

Made in Abyss
However, if you want something that has a fresh feel to it, look no further than Made in Abyss. Although things with somewhat similar concepts have aired in the past (from like School Live to Madoka Magica). But none of them really tied it into the adventure type that this show did. With strong visuals and good music this is a pretty strong contender.

Welcome to the Ballroom
If I had to explain this show it's a sports show about the discovery for the passion of dance. Unlike other ones the main character kind of just stumbles upon it and is reluctant at first. It's a pretty great character journey especially when they pair him up with the girl in the second half. I don't think it's like a perfect show as I do think because of how it's set up it does lose some of what makes traditional sports shows enjoyable, but regardless it's a great watch.

Princess Principal
There are two shows I think get setting down perfectly and this is one of them. Like in terms of overall production values, set/art design, sound design, etc this is a very strong candidate. It has a cast that is very complementary of each other. Like I feel that the show doesn't work if you take one out of the equation. It falters a bit in the ending, but I do think a little more and this could have been a goat level anime.

Mahoutsukai no Yome
From steampunk to fantasy. Ancient Magus' Bride is like a rekindlement of wonder when watching it. Somewhat interestingly both this and Princess Principal take place in versions of England (or at least a place based on England). From what I hear while PP captures the steampunk vibe very well Mahoutsukai no Yome captures England very well. It has one of the best main pairs of the year and the art quality that Wit studios has become known for. it's kind of unfortunate because it still has half the run left into next year and I do feel like that's going to ultimately hurt it in the voting.

Land of the Lustrous
This is a visually stunning anime. It has a unique concept but I think the most notable thing is Pho's overall character arc. It's one of those anime that I think could be considered to be groundbreaking in a few years.

Special Mention

Konohana Kitan
I don't expect anyone to vote for this but I want to give it a shoutout because its' basically almost nothing like I thought it would be. I thought it would be a slice of life comedy show with some yuri moments, and there is that... but I think more so it's among one of the more touching and thoughtful shows of the year. Each small part of each episode has like a moral or cute story attached to it and just the overall pacing and the emotional hit they give you at the end of them is very well done. I think this is an incredibly underrated show that deserves a watch.

Guys. Deck of Wonders.

Mage gets it from glyph and plays it on three.

Skip forward a few turns He had just played Mediv and like i did stuff and passed to him. The following things happened

1. Hits me in the face with hammer.
2. Forbidden Ritual which gives him a board of 1/1s and uses all his mana.
3. Bladeflurry which kills his weapon

Also just hit legend. I just noticed my priest deck doesn't have dragonfire in it. But it's been doing well so i don't want to put it in.

Raza priest is 100% better without the dragon package. Honestly i knew it would be better before I tried it out but it was just something newer.

The issue with the dragon package (no matter if you run the basic one, keleseth, or curator list) is that they all run as more like midrange decks versus combo. Too many decks have massive amounts amounts of heal or stabilization so being able to consistently burst for like 20+ is a must right now for a deck like raza priest.

The other issue is cycle. The dragon package has less of it because it has to make room for dragons. Some of which are not that great. On top of that because of the way card generation and the draw in some dragon lists work a lot of times u just hold cards because you cant activate them and because of that you cant use your draw because youll mill yourself

I'm going to toss in arguments for a bunch of things in different categories. Like I said most things this year seem pretty up in the air and I don't want to like really influence the voting by explicitly saying "here's my ballot" etc. I'm pretty sure I've seen the most shows out of anyone voting so my pool of shows to pick from was pretty vast.

Comedy/Slice of Life
IMO this is one of the more stacked areas but I do think there's a more or less favorite in this slot. In any case I would not be majorly unhappy if any of these shows won.

Konosuba S2
Personally I did think S2 was weaker than S1 overall. I thought the first season was more consistent. S2 had some better high points and I did like Aqua a lot better in S2. This has a major strength that last years best female (Megumin) is in the show and she's incredibly in the season. However, in terms of both comedy and characters she would have a lot more competition this year.

Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon
Like from this show. If we were wondering here like the comedy has gone Kyoto Animation has gone back to arguably what it does better than anyone else. This anime has a chance at several categories like best comedy, cast, aoty, character, etc. It's an incredibly fun show without any noticeable flaws I can immediately point out.

Little Witch Academia (TV)
I think the overall reaction to this show was a little more tepid than what was originally expected but it was still overall well received. Personally I really like characters like Ako but I can see why people might be annoyed at her. IMO the real strength of the anime is that it reminds me of like what it feels like to watch a cartoon on a saturday morning. It has a nostalgic feel and at the same time was a new show.

In terms like consistent laughs this is maybe the best show on the list? I don't think it has the high points of like dragon maid or konosuba (although some scenes like the locker one was incredible) but I do think in terms of being funny all the way through I laughed at this a lot. This also has a pretty strong cast and a chance for best female character, although because it does essentially have multiple candidates in the same show it could be victim of sff.

I think in terms of like building comedy in situations for like start to end in a skit format this is maybe the best show of the year for that. Notably noting besides the comedy really stands out so for a show to be this enjoyable without any real other stuff going for it is impressive. Also, if there was a best doge categories the one in this would win.

New Game!!
IMO the second season of new game has a distinct different feel than the first one and I do think it changed for the better. It has a much more cohesive feel and there is more focus on development of the characters and their overall relationships. I really like the cast but I do think that there might be too many good casts this year for it to get a slot. I do think as far as comedy goes and having an overall balance of things this is a strong show.

Net-juu no Susume
If I had to state what I really like about this anime it's 100% how Morioka reacts to things and how her relationship grows. I almost think the comedy in the show is only secondary to the real strength of the anime. Still, I would not mind it getting votes in the category since something like best romance is not in there.

Haruhi S2 losing R1 was fun too.

People were still annoyed at endless 8. Personally I enjoyed haruhi getting out of the pool 8 times.

I don't even like all these shows but like the top end of the year was incredibly stacked. There's argument that 2006/7 was more consistent overall but I mean the amount of shows being released more recently has gone up quite a bit. Like from a sheer view point standard you basically have a year where multiple shows that have been topping favorites list for the past few years now have aired.

I recently opened zola and now I am just missing the quest to make quest rogue.

Then again, I could also craft 4 epics and have all the pieces I need for cube warlock too (I'd have to craft both cubes and both voidlords) so i'd probably do that in like a couple of weeks when I have dust.
