I gave most disappointing to black clover. Like it was supposed to be the next big shounen. I think from like an expectation to results stand point its a clear cut winner. The main thing about zodiac war is that like no one should have expected anything from that show to start with

Saw more things

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card
-I have to say seeing like CCS after so many years is weird. It's not even a reboot it's like a fucking sequel. I don't know if anyone else remembers when this show was big, but it was huge enough where even with the awful dub it was immensely popular. I remember they sold like actual toys and stuff, like this one of Kero where he said in a completely monotone voice "You are the card captor". As for the actual show, pretty much like a lot of fan service for fans of the show. They reintroduced a bunch of characters and introduce some main plot points for the series.

School Babysitters
-This is pretty cute. Kind of predictable in the path it took but that's fine. I do think the emotional hit was not really quite as strong as it could have been. However, I'm pretty sure this is primarily a comedy. Some parts like when the little brother tried to get into the fight cloud was pretty funny too.

Mitsuboshi Colors
-Damn, blue girl is fucking savage. She's like my favorite character so far this year. Probably the funniest show that has aired so far.

Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san
-I wasn't sold when I read the concept of this show but after watching it I really liked it. It's both funny and cute at the same time. The facial expression are spot on in this title.

Ryuuou no Oshigoto!
-So I was worried there would not be like a real loli show. In any case pretty much did a good job at combining being cute and having nice character banter. I've heard this is from a popular LN so it has to be okay... right? (looks over at SAO).

Kokkoku
-Not really sure what to make of this quite yet. The actual premise is not bad but with such rapid information being given to us they need to somehow supplement this.

Dame x Prince Anime Caravan
-Ehh...don't really know how to approach this. I'm not big into the reverse harem genre but this one at the very least doesn't seem awful. But at the same time doesn't have that spark.

Citrus
-First off this show is beautiful. The overall directional in the episode was superb. I really enjoyed that the episode really seems to capture the point of view of Yuzu. Like almost every scene she's in is paced and shot in a way that reflects her mood or what she's going through. It also helps that she's not only a fairly likable character right now, but also one who is believable. She has exhibited some flaws but also some good traits as well and her character will bank on developing these. Also during the kiss scene I was uncomfortable and a lot it had to do with exactly how it was animated. Like the kiss scenes from say Prisma Illya are complete fan service and frankly I think it's great. The one in this episode though is great but for very different reasons. I will say Mei is a little more of a mystery right now. Anyway the best part of the episode was the cell phone part.

Grancrest Senki
-That mage outfit immediately reminded me of bastard instructor. You know, it would actually not be that bad of an outfit if the skirt/shorts part were not like so low cut. Mainly because people wear more outrageous stuff in real life... in public. In any case... Siluca... is actually one of my favorite characters so far this season. She really controls a lot of the episode. Theo though... is among the most boring characters this season. He's just very generic in the most uninteresting way you can be generic. I now want to get into the animation. Overall I think it was... okay? I don't know hard to measure with a show that is probably average right now. If you don't know I watch a lot of my anime in VR and the opening using a headset was great. Like I can see how on a normal monitor it might not be as interesting but when like the screen is huge and in front of your face it just looks really cool despite probably being kinda dull?

Pop Team Epic
-To have any enjoyment of this show at all you have to know a bit about anime and not just old anime but even some more recent stuff. Not only that but video games it seems, and french? And like actual voice actors? This might be too meta for its own good. But I'd argue even if you are like me and meet most of these requirements (I don't do french)... I still think this is a bad show. It was neat to see the references but references without context are just pointless. Like the jokes don't even really lead into anything nor are they actually led by anything. I can barely call them jokes and just a set of things that viewers in the know will be like "oh it's from that famous thing" and be like "that's kinda neat." That's like the extent of the appeal.

Slow Start
-I liked this a lot. I thought it was cute and that each of the characters showed off their personalities in a great way. The part where Eiko was insightful and all was like a really great moment I think. I also like how Hana doesn't really talk a lot even after being accepted by the group, mainly because it makes sense for both her situation and character that they've been building. The animation quality too is great... maybe too great. It's really weird because this is like the last show that needs such good animation quality.

Been watching some stuff. I'm trying to do it in order of air date.

A Place Further Than The Universe
-This was a pretty strong start to the season imo. This does a lot of things a first episode should, establishes characters and their goals, gives them personality, and lets the viewer have different things they can connect with. As for the rest of it like I was never a fan of the art style the show uses. However, this is one of the better premiers I've seen.

Yuru Camp
-Another episode I liked quite a bit and I'm not sure why. As far as actual content of thing happening there was not a lot. Rin basically goes camping and the other girl is sleeping and there is a pretty hilarious scene with them. It's just like some of the direction decisions and the like that I think are pulling this show up from something that might seem kind of meh to something that's pretty fun to watch. Like the ramen eating scene, that was amazing.

Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles
-Well the streak of good episodes had to end at one point. How do I put this... I don't think you can build a show based on like some girl wanting to be friends with another girl based on learning about ramen. I mean you can argue that shows have been made based off of less (or nothing) but it's not barely a comedy, there are barely jokes, not even gags. The best character is the jealous one you see for like two scenes. This is probably not as bad as I'm making it out to be, but no... this is still pretty bad.

Toji no Miko
-Okay so... what's going on? It's like I somewhat understand the premise of the world from the show but I feel like was a S1 and this is S2. Like the characters are just kinda tossed in there and all I have to off of in liking them or not is their basically brief introduction. Some of them (most of them) barely talk. Unsurprisingly I like the loli with the big sword who has the least amount of lines out of all the girls. I'm under no impression that this show is good... but this probably gets another episode if only because maybe it'll have good battle sequences. It's also an original show so... there's that.

Sanrio Danshi
-I'll say this got better as the episode went on. I think the premise of like being a guy and liking traditionally girly things is a neat concept for a show. The scene with like the little kids makes more sense because they are little kids... but like it doesn't seem to apply as much as you get older. Like I understand the overall message they are trying to send (or at least the one they seem to be) but it's almost like I don't know, it doesn't apply as much? I mean it does to an extent but I do feel like this is something that would feel more relevant if this was like from 5 years ago or something. On top of that I'm not sure the anime community is really the ones needing see this. But that's really more like not discussing the show and more like the kinda good it could do in commenting on social constructs. What I did find annoying are the shounen-ai/yaoi vibes. I understand why they are in there. I know why they are in there... but I also feel like it kind of undermines the shows premise. However, I'm guessing it's supposed to be more of like a bromance type thing. Just like Frodo and Sam. I also want to comment on the animation quality which was the first thing I really noticed because it's really bad and it almost caused me to drop it after the intro scene but I stuck with it because of the change of scene. I'm glad I did because, again, as a concept I liked the episode just it does have issues.

that's going to happen when like a ton of shows are being released. I personally don't think that a year should be judged like on the average quality of the shows but by how many great shows it manages to produce. Like 2011 has my highest year since 2011 onwards because I have a hard time comparing like years before that where I have like a third of the shows to even less from that point on.

However I will give that 2007-8 are both extremely strong years.

Yeah I think general consensus among the modern anime community is that 2011 is probably the best year in "modern" anime. What you want to say is modern anime is up for debate. But 2011 generated 3 shows that are in my top 5 (Steins;Gate, Penguindrum, Chihayafuru) and this does not even mention major shows that were released that I don't even like that much (such as Fate and Ano Hana).

Like I gave out 4 10s during the year (the three on my favorites and also to madoka). 2009 and 2010 only saw me give out 1 each year (to FMA: BH and K-on S2). In fact besides 2011 I seem to have like a 10 a year or something and you guys know how much I watch. That's how much I think 2011 stands above at least for their best shows versus other years.

Depends on what you mean by best. If you want like overall winrates across all games then I think it's Call to Arms Paladin. However if you want like matchups based on what you'll see in the meta then it's Raza priest.

Tempo Rogue was a weird case last expansion because it actually didn't have overwhelming win rates versus anything and instead was just a solid deck all around. Right now Tempo Rogue I'd say is border line tier 1.

Decks like cube lock too really help Raza maintain dominance in the meta as the matchup is highly favored for the priest and at the same time hurt the Paladin and rogue lists.

Cube lock is common enough where yeah almost every tempo deck has started to pack silence. I run spellbreakers in rogue now which seems to be common. Havn't added them to Paladin yet but I might cut like mauls for them.

Speaking of Paladin. I made the deck and teh fisrt night dropped from rank 3 to the bottom of rank 5. Not even a lot of warlocks just getting some awful draws and such. But today I have a positive win rate. Seems like a deck that's going to be one of those wins like a little more than loses.

Thinking of building hunter too. I'm pretty sure I have all the cards for the aggro version.

They changed the occurrence on several hunter cards to reduce the insane synergy they've been having. Basically hunters new set of class cards are insane for arena (like wolves after a secret let alone two pretty much ends the game).

The general community seems to really like the first season. But I don't really think the show is good. It's even one of those I get why people might be baited into liking it type thing like Terror in Resonance (which is an even worse show btw) other than "oh these characters are kinda goofy at times" etc. or like basically it's an offshoot of what sao did with the Isekai genre and people are like "wow this is original". Basically the same treatment people gave Log Horizon (only log horizon actually maintains decent quality until the latter episodes where it gets way too into itself for its own good).

Had a match versus a jade druid. Basically went like this

First few turns he ramps and I do a lot of nothing and draw cards.
He plays armor cards
He DKs
He uses UI and fills his hand.
I'm like "WHERE IS RAZA?"
He summons stuff and I have to like dragonfire
I find Raza and play it and take a lot of damage.
He summons stuff and I use Psychic Scream
He summons more stuff and I use a psychic scream I got from the start of the game (from shadow visions)

He gains more armor. And does jade stuff
I draw Anduin but can't play him because I need him for one board clear
He summons some stuff and gains armor (at this point he has 87 total health).
I play Anduin.
Stuff happens

he is finally out of removal he has 87 HP and I have 17. I have 9 cards left (Velen, Lyra, Radiant, Coin, Pint Size, Acolyte of Pain, Mind Blast, Binding Heal, and Holy Smite... with Binding Heal and Acolyte being in the deck.)

But that was all I needed. yeah my lyra spells were pretty good but this is basically how Raza priest beats jade druid now if the priest draws like ass. Like the druid could have won this if he just saved one thing of removal for Velen.

I somehow missed Konohana Kitan

Even I was surprised how much I liked this show. It has the shell of like a cute shoujo-ai moe comedy. In fact, the first episode is especially cute (probably the cutest of the series) but also sets the mood for like the anime is going to be a set of stories that end with like a lesson, realization, or something like that. And while character motivation is simple and they don't really go anywhere that doesn't matter. Most of the stories are very well done and mix together charm, comedy, and even some serious moments. And a few of them are especially touching. This is an anime where the overall rating of the show slowly went up over time on MAL (Like I think it started just below 7 and now it's at like 7.68). Which is like higher than I thought what seems to be now a niche show.

The iDOLM@STER SideM
-Realtalk, I don't really like love live, or akb. But I do like some idolmaster. When thinking about this and the original one with the girls I think this one is fine but imo it loses out on a couple of things. Like one of the aspects I really liked in the first one was that I really felt the growth of the studio, a lot of this was because the show had twice as many episodes. Like here you can see the growth as they are recruiting more idols as the show goes on, but it's like not realized in the same way that the original was. Also, individual episodes are decent but not really special.

-I saw some of this. I don't remember anything about it.

-Okay, so like it starts with some stuff and like a pretty decent song and some amv like music video and I thought "okay now they'll like reveal their feelings or something idk." but nope they go right into another song and I'm like "what even is this show?"

Girls Last Tour
-I was kind of taken aback at the ending. But the strongest point of the show is the interaction between the two girls and how they bounce off each other. Like you can see how they have disagreements but also how they rely on each other and share a special bond.

Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World
-I think that some episodes of this were incredible but others were pretty bad. So it was a wildly inconsistent anime. I do think there were slightly more good than bad though. I do think too that the show was pretty front loaded.

My Girlfriend is Shobitch
-This is one of those shows that people of the right audience (like me) find a lot of enjoyment out of. In execution of what it's doing it does things well, especially the main girls inept perversion. Like the show is not even really that much of a fan service show (although it has some). It's much more akin to something like Seitokai than anything else (albeit with characters that are less interesting but have better gags).

Dies Irae
-Did anyone finish this? Like the first episode was basically every character walking out to animation from 5 years ago trying to look cool.

Land of the Lustrous
-I don't really think I have to talk much about this one. I'd call it the surprise of the season. Pho is probably one of the most if not the most intriguing character of the year. This has a lot going for it especially if it gets a second season.

The Children of Whales
-This could have been a lot better but a lot of pretty dumb stuff happens and it's really hard to understand the direction the show really wanted to go in imo. If you want an example of an anime where each episode makes the show worse... look here.

UQ Holder
-I'm probably a bit biased here but I really liked this show. It hits a lot of the fun shounen things and fan servicey moments at the same time. Negima has always been a waifu machine and this is no different. In fact, a pretty good portion of the show is basically huge fan service to fans of the original work. If you want a shounen that is focused more on fun than like big battles and such this is a good one. Although, you do gain more mileage if you've seen the original work.

Code:Realize
-This was almost interesting but do you know what anime the first episode reminded me of? Amnesia, another show I saw one episode of and promptly dropped.

Animegataris
-Okay so like... I don't really understand this anime at all. I do think that at first it really captured parts of the fandom very well. As someone who has been in multiple anime clubs and have had leadership roles too I've seen all types of anime fans in the wild so they say and despite the obvious anime level boost the show has a lot of the characters at first do resemble real life people I've known in these clubs. Not only that but even the things they talked and argued about also were things that happened in real life. Know what didn't happen in real life? Anime. OR DID IT?

Evil or Live
-Did anyone finish this? How bad is it?

Urahara
-Okay, this is a show where like I'm watching the first episode and was like "this looks interesting... but I can't help shake the feeling that this is a bad show."

Sengoku Night Blood
-So I actually thought almost every part of the first episode was decent and was like "damn... this might be good". But then they are like "we're vampires" and I'm like "nope."

Two Car
-An anime that just kind of teetered on being watched or not watched. But I do feel like I was a little more strict this season overall. Probably watchable but also probably nothing special.

Quick reviews of the shows I've seen this season in order of how they appear on MAL.

The Ancient Magus' Bride
-This was always one of the top shows of the season since it was launched but the show has only improved over time. Like the entire show just feels so alive. I think one thing the show does very well is translate Chise's realization and discovery to the viewer so they can experience it with her. Scenes are wonderful to watch, art is amazing, music is great.

Food Wars S3
-Food Wars is among the only shows where I also read the manga. Like it was all good fun. I don't have much to say about it. I think that the first season has been by far and away the best one but this is still good. I do think that the comedy is the strongest aspect of the show though.

Black Clover
-Okay so, the screaming aside I only made it to episode 2. It would be one thing to like go right into the fight, but no you have to do a flash back. Why. I actually hear that the dub is actually better in terms of the voice acting but I don't think that changes that the show probably has some pretty bad directorial decisions.

Inuyashiki
-I'd say this is one of those... what's a word for someone who wants to promote any anime that has like a "serious theme" or something? I don't know. This is basically porn for them. The show starts promising and there were a lot of places where I thought it could go, but in reality it doesn't really explore enough of the characters themselves. Motives honestly are a little too simple to be intriguing. Like I understand maybe they just wanted a basic good versus evil story, but this anime felt very empty.

Recovery of an MMO Junkie
-This is a cute show that I think really captures what it's like to have a close friend in an mmo. Like I can't really relate to the neet part or anything but a lot of the character interaction in the show seems authentic but at the same time at that anime type entertaining. I do think a couple of mid episodes kinda dragged it down a little but for the most part this is a solid romcom.

Juuni Taisen
-I never actually like this show that much but I did think the middle episodes brought it up a bit. I do wish it would have let us find out about all the characters sooner instead of basically telegraph deaths and stuff. Like Tiger is a character that's very likable but we don't even see her until like the midpoint. In any case it's like a show that started off subpar and moved to a bit above average, but like tanked because of the ending. I mean he could have wished for like "That Juuni Taisen would never happen again" but no. Ugh.

Blend S
-This anime will probably most be known for the meme that the OP has created. Overall I liked this show quite a bit. The characters are all fun and the running gags are cute but not really overused. Not much else to say. Nothing about this anime is groundbreaking just well a good show.

Just Because!
-I feel like like Inuyashiki this is going to be a show that is more polarizing. I think it was okay. I really think that they captured the feel of the highschool angst and such very well. I mean knowing me you'd think I would love this show. But IMO the show is never really entertaining, I don't care about the characters, and by the time I do it's too late. Like things like conflict, stakes, etc are not laid out soon enough, just takes too long to get going. That said the good parts of the anime are very good.

Ousama Game The Animation
-The first episode of this anime was a train wreck.

A Sister's All You Need
-I like don't have a lot to say about this except like... it was boring? I don't know unlike other shows I dropped that left a distinct "this sucks" impression this left a "did I watch this?" impression.

Like basically every single person who has done like a reaction has mentioned something on this. No one knows. I mean like they had a great chance to actually kill her in the movie but instead they were like "lets make her superman for a few seconds."

Pretty much. It lets pros get away with cheating in literally every tournament, too. Fuck Magic.

man thats fucked up. Like in ygo you have to explicitly say what you're activating, what you're activating against (if applicable), when you are doing it, etc. Mainly because things like timing is pretty much what separated great and good players when I played. I hear now it's more about who goes off on a big combo first due to the power creep getting out of hand in the game.

So an aggro druid was working against my priest and like he was doing pretty well but I was stemming the tide. But he plays living mana into my turn 7 psychic scream. On top of that like he still tried for a couple more turns and a little later dropped another living mana... where I dropped lyra and started to get chain silences and PoMs from her so he was like left with no mana a second time.

No as someone who as cleared them only certain ones are scripted. Although a few are impossible if the ai opens with certain cards.

That happens like every season lmfao reynad was stuck at rank 9 for hours or something like if you hit rank 3 or so on the first day your mmr is all weird and you can get anyone from like a rank 8 or something to like number one legend (well that used to be the case)
