Also many American Christians that are posting here wouldn't like that church itself or the people worshipping there as they are Coptic, brown, and worshipping Allah since they are Arabs who speak Arabic.

So? The Bush 2 tax cuts were supposed to expire in ten years, which together with the $300 bribe to everybody was how they got passed. But ten years later his cousin made them permanent.

I don't see these being any different, letting them expire as designed will then be attacked as 'raising taxes' again.

No, because it changes nothing?

Because we still have veto power. Yet even our allies are not on our side with this move, which should be a little worrying and eye opening as our global power wanes and yet we still want to take unilateral actions.

I'm not sure what you are asking TC, is this the first paycheck you have ever gotten? If so the important thing to learn is to never look at the gross pay, because gross pay isn't real and looking at that number will just piss you off.

Gaming websites rely on advertising revenues and the biggest advertisers are the game publishing companies. Also publishers can show favoritism to certain websites and reviewers by providing early access/review copies to those willing to gargle them, or blacklisting those who write unfavorably about their games.

Second would be that most games take a long time to play compared to the time spent consuming most other forms of media so someone reviewing one as a "job" isn't particularly motivated to explore it in the depth it deserves if they're expected to produce so many articles within a given time.

Combine these two aspects, and the fact that the first reviews generate the most traffic and "buzz", you have a recipe for trash that isn't worth the bandwidth spent to read it.

Came in to post this. Business is business.

TopicWhy is it OK for people to use political labels like racial slurs
NYmasajista
12/20/17 10:07:07 PM

Because we are trained to not like each other for so many reasons to prevent solidarity, as that would be a threat to the system. This is the purpose of wedge issues like religion, abortion, race, sexuality, etc. to keep us fighting each other over the crumbs, and not looking together at where most of the pie is going.

Its why we can talk about race but not talk about class. Talking about race, or whatever other 'thing' you are identifying with (**** identity politics), does not threaten the system at all. Seeing yourself as an individual 'identity' helps prevent solidarity with others around you.

To quote George Carlin 'when the middle is focused on hating the bottom the top can continue to take all the money. It's a very simple plan that happens to work very well.'

Or to quote Carl Rove in 2004 when he was working to get Bush 2 reelected 'ultimately I don't care what people think about God, guns, and gays. I just prefer that people think about God, guns, and gays than think about where their jobs went.'

A bubble is definitely on it's way. With massive tax breaks to corporations on top of an already huge income equality the US is experiencing it's pretty much guaranteed we'll see another recession and probably even worse than the one in 2008.

It's what happens when you focus solely on short term gains.

It's part of how the system works. When bubbles burst the richest can buy up the things that others built up while the bubble was growing, further consolidating their power while everyone else is getting ****ed.

I'm not saying that it is all planned out in advance every time, but historically that is how it has been happening. The system of late stage capitalism that we live in has turned very inwardly parasitic and predatory because there are very few external 'frontiers' left to exploit. It's not the 17th and 18th centuries anymore with the Americas to plunder or the 19th century with Africa and Asia to dominate and exploit. Yes we are doing what we can today with Africom, but it's a far cry from the height of colonialism in the 1800s.

Yeah in the last decade the system got Iraq's industries as they had been national, and Libya's gold, and Obama opened up Iran just enough to jam Goldman Sachs in there (while maintaining most of the sanctions to keep EU banks out), but there are very few nations left with national industries to plunder.

Inward looting through privatization is the only route left for capitalism, so that's what is happening. 'Grab as much as you can and **** everybody else before the next crash' is all that left for the system right now.

And yeah the next crash will be worse than the last, and the last cost ten million jobs as well as 14 trillion dollars of peoples' home, investment, and retirement wealth. The banks are bigger now, most people have even less in savings, and less job security too. One of the big parts in the new tax bill is letting the corporations bring back something of the trillions they have off shore at a low rate, which will help put off the next day crash a few more years, but it ultimately will still happen and it will be fast and terrifying.

tl;dr never blame others too harshly if they don't want to pay attention to what's actually going on as it's only going to get a lot worse for 95% of the human race.

The Bush era tax cuts caused the housing mortgage bubble???

No that was from a combination of policies during the administrations of Clinton and Bush 2.

Remember Bush 2 bragging about how the rate of home ownership was higher under his administration than at any point in the past? Or how his cousin never did a thing to stop any of the foreclosures that occurred during his time in office?

All presidents continue with and build on what they inherit from the guys before them. The six presidents and were before Trump have differed some on a few social policies but have all worked towards neoliberal policies, as does Trump himself. That's the system we live under.

The Bush era tax cuts were in effect the whole recession.

No they, along with the unfunded wars he and his cousin started, are a big chunk of our national debt but were not the biggest cause of the recession.

The 07-08 crash was largely a result of Clinton's deregulations of the financial sector such as the repeal of the Glass-Stegall Act and Futures Commodities Modernization Act. People like Clinton because his bubble didn't burst while he was still in office.

The fact that taxes are the price of civilization is not the point here TC. We have been told for over 30 years now that taxes are bad, government is bad, and greed is good. What do you really expect most people to think?

Some people may have laughed at Margaret Thatcher at the time when she was saying that 'there is no alternative' but 30 years later that's become true enough. How many of us could even think of an alternative to the current system we have now and a way to get to it?
