You only commit to a weapon in the sense that you need to craft the vast majority of your equipment. At first this might not be much of an issue, but since skills are tied to equipment and some skills favor some weapons, you can imagine how taxing it might be to mantain a dedicated set for every weapon in the late game.

I recommend you try literally every weapon that looks interesting to you. They are all viable, and it largely depends on your preference and playstyle. What works for one person might not fit you.

The more noobie friendly weapons in my opinion, are Sword and Shield, Longsword and Dual Blades, for what it's worth.

The 360 controller I found was tolerable.

Unfortunately the standard 360 controller suffered from the lack of 4-way pads (as a THPS/retro vet this was frustrating playing such games), the triggers had that annoying springy sound, and the boy do the coating on the sticks wear out fast.

I'd rate the N64 lower, but just for its innovation at the time deserves higher credit.

The N64 controller, by design, cannot be used in it's entirety in any confortable way.

Finally, my last main suspect is Shuichi himself. Now, I'm not sure if the writers would actually pull another Sayaka, but Shuichi did have the opportunity to pull this off. We know he went to the basement alone leaving Kaede behind. During that time he could have very well have done it. Plus he could have rigged the cameras a certain way to where he could bypass the sensors. Maybe the receiver lets him remotely turn them off? He seems like a cool guy so I don't wanna doubt him, but you can't trust anyone in these games
