I don't think it's a merely distraction, I think he genuinely enjoys sending liberals into a frenzy after they spent the better part of a year mocking, ridiculing, and belittling him. He has so much control over them and their fragile emotions that it's almost unbelievable. He's obviously having quite a bit of fun doing what he's doing.

That's not a mentally healthy thing to do and promoting it and praising him for it is mentally unhealthy as well.

You shouldn't have to make video compilations of the former president saying, "Merry Christmas," to prove he's really not against Christianity.

I saw frosty in Obama's Christmas scene, but where was Jesus? That administration wanted to take the Christ out of Christmas. Hence Xmas. That's sacrilegious.

Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Yes, I know he was born in another month, but that's just when we do it.

I've never actually seen a leftist, liberal, Democrat, progressive, regressive, Antifa, communist, socialist, SJW, BLM, sovereign citizen, or anyone else that can be reasonably construed as a target for your strawmen ever bring up ice cream. It's always been some cooky crazy conservative.

Oh, hey djl!

So, CNN is full of cooky, crazy conservatives?

Or are you ignoring their 24-hour news coverage over 2 scoops?

As a leftist, I am not ignoring it. I just don't watch CNN so I can't verify that they've spoken of it, let alone have been doing so for 24 hours, though I fully believe they have covered it and probably for longer than they should have, but I don't give a fuck. I don't even have context. 2 scoops? Is that bad or unusual? I don't eat ice cream often, but when I do, if I'm scooping it myself, I usually go with 2-3 (inconsistent scooping devices, gauging more by 'how much is in the bowl' than scoop size/shape) and when I get it from a restaurant or ice cream place whatever they're called, I usually get the middle size which seems to typically be about 2 scoops, if they are using a consistent utensil.

They got pissed because, at some sort of function, apparently President Trump got two scoops of ice cream when everyone else got one. I don't even know if it's because he asked.

It doesn't fucking matter. The fact that it was somehow newsworthy proves that liberals are so willing to get pissed off at him over every little perceived and imagined slight that ANYTHING he does becomes newsworthy.

The dude went to war in Syria, and instead of getting pissed about that, they get pissed over stupid shit like ice cream and imaginary increases in acceptable radiation levels.

Okay, that is fair...

But also fair... is that I never heard a god damn thing about this ice cream shit other than conservatives on this board bitching about liberals focusing on this... and no liberal had mentioned it. I have criticized fellow liberals of bitching about his hair, his "Orange hue," "covfefe," steak and ketchup, that steak and ketchup comic meme, and other trivial shit.

If ice cream was at the same time as syria, I saw all kinds of coverage and read all kinds of shit about that bomb on the airport and whether or not it was justified or worth while. I never heard about fuckin ice cream :P

Edit: in fact while I've heard "ice cream" before, this is the first time context was explained, so thanks for that.

Leftists on this site have been repeating to me a post I made months ago that I deleted after a few seconds because I realized I made a mistake

But CNN devoting a segment of their time to something as mind-bendingly dumb as Trump once getting two scoops of ice cream isn't worth talking about even though they have made no attempt to reel in the dumbness of it.

We all make mistakes and I think I know which one you are referring to. Is it the NATO thing? If so, I nodded when I first read your post about having responded with a comment about NATO when you meant something else and then deleted and clarified. I was not here. I can't say for sure, but we all make mistakes like this and of all explanations you could be offering now, this one is the most logical, so if you could elaborate, I would very much like to know the mix up, as I am certain I have made such mix ups myself and also because I have witnessed literally dozens of mentions if not hundreds of that incident, and still nothing from the other side to rule out inaccuracies, just speculation which you deny, and with further clarification, I'm ready to be convinced it didn't happen as accused. The other example (against you) in that other topic was poorly worded on the accuser's part and I was serious when I said that the picture of your post did NOT show you saying what you were accused of saying, so I'm inclined to believe you now, but I would like more context.

(Mal OCD question with quote blocks gone because on phone)

OCD is defined as having compulsions based on obsessions, such as "having to operate in repetitious numbers, such as 5, due to a related numerical obsession, such as 'fell down 5 stairs' to compensate, as everyday situations are reminders."

The short answer is no, I do not suffer from that. I just have a superb memory. Others, including people who have worked with trump (see actress Marilu Henner, 2 time The Apprentice contestant) have memories so extraordinary that you could ask them what they wore or ate for dinner on a random day 15-20 years prior and they could answer. I can't do that. I filter out the mundane, but I save more than others do.

You were not expected to respond non-stop. When I was presenting what I presented, the topic was slowing down and I was actually at the time the only one actively engaging you. ,Everyone else was on the periphery. I too fail to reply at times, I must assume. I keep track of activity through my active posts, so much is lost in cracks, and I can't remember everything, but when something catches my eye, it is essentially photographed in my mind. I will either never forget the photograph or I will lose track of it only to be reminded the instant a relevant reference triggers it, which varies and in a way I don't fully understand.

Back to your initial question... I do not exhibit OCD behavior to my knowledge, and I have no diagnosis, as I haven't had cause to seek psychiatric/psychological evaluation. I do not take medications of any kind. I have not been referred to anyone. ,I do not have any obsessions and I do not tend to act out of compulsion, whether or not compulsion is present. At the same time, I am not medically/psychologically qualified to confirm on those grounds that I in fact do not have any form or any level of OCD, and if you suspect that I do have it, as you were respectful and polite in suggesting the notion, I am more than happy to continue the conversation, even publicly.

Same here. I believe CNN latched onto it, but I don't follow CNN, so if I conceded "CNN probably latched onto this. I believe it when people say that" but also stated "I have not seen any left presence latching onto it" as I don't watch CNN and thus have not witnessed this latching on first-hand, or even had it corroborated beyond 'enough online trump supporters complained so maybe it's true', I am not contradicting myself as mal would possibly claim, .though I haven't seen him claim that. So I'm not claiming he would claim that, just like I haven't seen CNN bitch about ice cream, so I'm not claiming they have.

to set a good example.

The case histories gave carefully detailed examples of this disease.
4.
an instance illustrating a rule or method, as a mathematical problem proposed for solution.
5.
an instance, especially of punishment, serving as a warning to others:
Public executions were meant to be examples to the populace.
6.

an action without example.

So high schoolers are not the singular or even necessary inclusion of the word "kid".

got em

.What em have you got?

Definition variations for example in this instance apply with #1 and #3, and both definitions DO necessitate inclusion. Of course high schoolers are not the singular definition of kid, but based on the definition of example and citation of "example" in the definition of kid, according to the dictionary definition of the word "kid," high school students are a necessary inclusion, based on the citation of them in the example as per variants 1 and 3 As cited in the definition of the word "example" .unless I am missing something here.

It is true that his claim is not backed up by the picture and what you said does not fit the narrative of the claim, so you are right here. I am curious to know what you mistook NATO for and what caused that mental hiccup, if you remember. .However, You did type "Nazi's" with an apostrophe in an attempt to make Nazi plural.

I am curious though, in the girl scout hugging controversy topic, why were you responding only to single sentences of my posts instead of addressing their entire content, including when I was specifically pointing out that on some points, I agree with you? Additionally, at the end of the conversation, I outlined exactly which points we agreed upon and on which points we disagree, clarifying my opinion on the entire scope of the argument, addressing perspective of the child, the parent and the relatives. The post was called, by another user, "too reasonable for you to respond to" and sure enough, you neglected to respond. I'm curious as to why you would leave the conversation at that point, when I was giving you credit for the aspects of the subject on which we were in agreement, after appearing to be more interested in trying to call me out on cherry-picked things when the vast majority of the content of my posts outlined my own stances on the issue and in many instances were admissions of agreement, .which I must assume you just simply were not interested in acknowledging. Was it that you were interested only in painting me in a certain light and therefore could only respond to things I said that were consistent with me being paintable in said light?

This. I don't even feel pressure on my balls when I have my knees pressed together. It's more uncomfortable for my thighs. My legs aren't skinny at all. Until I saw the term in another topic yesterday, I had never heard "manspreading" before and while I had noticed off and on dudes sitting like that, it never occurred to me that it was a thing as opposed to random isolated instances of rude people and I never associated it with gender other than "women probably don't sit that way because they are probably used to avoiding it because they sometimes wear stuff that could expose their underwear or vagina if they sit that way."

For me, the most comfortable position to sit in is with about 8-12 inches between my knees. I'll go less on a crowded bus because not doing so is being an asshole and has been being an asshole since the beginning of public transportation, long before feminists started bitching about it. That's all this topic is about. All this "hurr durr but ur balls" just translates to "I suddenly want to do this and take it to an extreme now that feminists have started saying 'don't do it' and have invented a term for it." That's literally all it is... and I say that as someone who finds it disgusting that feminists have taken a a gesture that is pointless and discourteous and turned it into a "this is yet another sexist and oppressive thing men to do us" issue. If Mal_Fet could actually read the polifact links he post, he'd see that polifact literally agreed with his point about the wage gap. They actually explained the data and was like "each thing is technically true, this is what the numbers are coming from" which shows that those numbers don't tell any story and that they are very, very general.

It's rated as "mostly true" because they're true numbers.

Too bad they can't exercise that kind of integrity when presented with someone on the right.

Because you fail to actually read the articles you post. You're only capable of reading the headline and the last 3 words of the article. Maybe if you took a glance at the rest, you'd understand what that actually means.

Instead, you act all smug and right when everything you post is literally wrong.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/kid

"'a young person"\', example kids in high school"

Because 0-4 are "kids in high school". Your way of skewing isn't correct because your definitions are completely wrong, and also skewed towards your side. No one but the alt-right would define a kid as only 0-14 and exclude 15-17 year olds. Because that skews the data away from their side and levels it out. If he had actually said something like "kids under the age of 14 are more likely to die in a bathtub than by a gun shot", then his claim would be 100% true. That's not what he said though.

ib4 "dictionary is wrong because it was written by leftists"

That or no response at all.

Post a wall of text at both of them, with context that you are disagreeing with them. Hide one random bait sentence in the wall.

See if you get a response and how much of your post is responded to.

This. Of course things like "treat others how you want to be treated" and general ideologies and practices in kindness, generosity and other inherently socially positive traits are good teachings, but they are certainly not strictly applicable to him. I wouldn't give him any more credit than anyone else teaching the same ideas, and they are generally accepted as common sense, though I admit they are not practiced as widely as they should be, but shitty people will be shitty and horrible circumstances can darken minds.

I feel sorry for her loss but dammit I hate that "Jesus took them" nonsense. That only means the god they worship is cruel and unjust.

That's a very basic interpretation.

It rules out both the afterlife and the grand plan and pretends that you not only know God, but also know that he is cruel and malicious.

My issue with her statement was more "needed a beekeeper in heaven" which kinda disgusted me when I read it. If serious, it is stating that she believes that the afterlife for her child would have him be a beekeeper simply because she associates him with that photo. If meant as more of a joke, I understand human nature in optimistic humor in the face of tragedy, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I understand it but I don't agree with it.

The story is presented in a bit of a clickbait-y manner, insinuating a potential link between the bees and the stillbirth, whereas the article explains a hereditary blood clotting condition that is the likely cause of death.

Still, horribly tragic and I feel bad for her, and my sympathies are even deeper considering how close she was to her due date and I truly hope that since the bee thing was controversial, she won't have to suffer cruelty and hate from people that take the bait and try to blame her for this. I hope the high road is taken and the best wishes and support vastly outweigh any ignorance.

Curious how this brand of "truth" telling is acceptable to you when it comes from people that you agree with.

I doubt you would be so supportive of the gender wage gap argument being technically correct.

The gender wage gap is correct...if you only look at the median wages for all men and women irrespective of any other variable.

But ok, I can appreciate it if politifact is so dedicated to the truth that a technically correct statement is still false to them if it's wrong under some specific statistical parameters. Let's look at how they judge the wage gap claim then!

http://www.politifact.com/florida/statements/2017/mar/14/patricia-farley/taking-closer-look-florida-democrats-claims-about-/

"A woman working full-time is paid 79 to 80 cents for every dollar a man is paid, and it's even less for women of color, and on average $11,000 per year is lost simply because she isn't a man."

Mostly True

lol welp so much for having respect for statistical accuracy. Lolitifact is just a partisan hack website after all and if Carlson were only a leftist they'd probably have given him a "mostly true" as well.

FigureOfSpeech posted...
Do you have a source about whether or not he would have said that?

I don't have a crystal ball, no.

But the point he was illustrating was that there are, in fact, way bigger dangers to kids than guns that nobody is trying to legislate against. And he's right.

Fair point on other dangers, but anyone can muddy the water like that. I'm not anti-gun, but this country is kinda ridiculous.

She's the only notable person running in the last election who voted for Iraq. Trump didn't. Bernie didn't. They knew what was up

How was trump in a position to vote on that?

Irrelevant, he didn't vote for it

So there was not a vote that he was eligible to participate in. That is the point you are making. "he is okay because he was not eligible to vote on something and that's the same as him voting the way I agree with."

Trump needs to be out of the equation because he had no ability to vote. Bernie > Hillary is definite truth though so I'm with you there.
