Oh, and here's one thing I've found about recovering from stomach issues.

Follow your appetite and cravings.

I once got sick and didn't do that. I thought I would stick with the BRAT (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast) diet and other simple foods even after I felt better because I thought I knew more than my appetite. I eventually ate the things I usually do again, but I still would get sick easily. Overall, it took me 6-8 weeks to recover and actually eat normally again.

When I've gotten sick again, I'd still eat simple things for a while, but I'd follow my appetite. If I want meat, I'll eat meat for example, because my body probably needs protein if I'm craving it. I'd even eat a Quarter Pounder with Cheese (as I did just a few days after food poisoning), something that doctors would say you shouldn't eat normally and especially when sick. When I've done that, it took me 2-3 weeks to eat completely normally again without getting sick.

That's just my body though. I'm sure that's not good advice for everyone, but it worked for me. This advice isn't valid if you're throwing up, of course.

Also be really careful of dehydration and fever. If you have either, either take small sips of something or consider calling a nurse helpline for medical advice if you have insurance. I had a problem with that this year (not stomach flu though) and I ended up going to the emergency room because of it.

And for drinks, drink Pedialyte, Powerade, Gatorade, or other sports drinks. That was some good advice the doctor gave me because those contain calories and electrolytes your body needs. Water doesn't, and soda like 7-Up/Sprite lacks the electrolytes sports drinks have. I've found that when I'm sick, Powerade works the best though I've never had Pedialyte.

As a former homeschooler that originally went to public school and now works for the same school district I left as a kid to be homeschooled, I just have to say that it really depends on the kid, the parents, and the type of homeschooling that is done. It's a really complicated thing. Public school is a good option for most kids, but there are certain things that homeschooling does better or worse depending on how it's done and other circumstances.

But I'll just say yes for the oversimplified poll.

I love Nintendo and their systems and games, but I don't think their handheld games really last like their consoles. My SNES and N64 work way better than my handhelds, despite being older. Maybe it's because handhelds are more subject to abuse unlike consoles that sit around all day.

I'm thinking that since my games were in a pocket next to my DS that somehow they got pushed against it. But there's padding so it makes no sense to me.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to store my Switch games in their original cases and not in my travel case, then only buy digital for major games even though I don't get the Amazon Prime discount on them.

Huh, battery backup died or something? I haven't tried playing a DS cartridge lately, myself. Get a good backup device and put the images on there. Second-rate ones aren't going to fare any better.

I think something or loose or rotted inside or something. I noticed a few years ago that Mario Kart and Animal Crossing would only sometimes work. Most of my games seem to rattle a little, and this isn't because of lack of care or anything, brand new Switch games do the same thing. At any rate, I finally got Kirby to work and wow, I last played this in April 2006.

I am thinking of getting some kind of backup device but I have no idea what to get and afraid to ask here.

I'm legitimately sad about this.

Almost all my DS games are dead. My DS/3DS XL/New 3DS XL can sometimes read them but not easily. I can't even get Kirby: Canvas Curse to be detected for longer than a split second. I think the only DS game I have that even works properly is Pokemon HeartGold.

RIP, my handheld games from my high school years.

Am I the only one with a bunch of broken DS games? It's making me regretful and paranoid that I bought 3 Switch games physically when they're available digitally. I'm not sure I can trust them.

This is why I don't count Apple. That, and my job forces me to use Apple stuff every day so I can't exactly boycott them.

Oh, and it's not a company, but I am boycotting Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. I legitimately want it to fail because of microtransactions; Animal Crossing historically has received free DLC and other things from Nintendo and I really don't want them to get any ideas for future console/handheld games.

Why did you boycott them originally?

Once I was 7 years old and my momma told me "I'll get you a PlayStation." She did, and I was all excited as it was set up. I popped in the demo disc it came with and...nothing came up except for the CD player. I tried it again. Nothing. The demo disc worked in another PlayStation. Other games worked in mine. Mine was defective.

Well we sent it to Sony and even though it was new, they didn't want to fix it for free. We paid them and then they sent us half the money back saying they didn't want to fix or replace it. My mom fought with them for a while but then we just gave up and got a Virtual Boy. I loved my VB. Way more than PS1.

That's my story of why I boycotted Sony and to this day put VB above PS1 in my favorite systems.

I'm just going to say that after a gaming slump, Super Mario Odyssey is the game that had reminded me of why I liked playing video games and since playing it, I've become more interested in gaming overall. Not even BotW did that for me.

Super Mario Odyssey is easily my 2017 game of the year.

I think the biggest problem is that we're not talking about race at all, we're talking about cultures that are stereotyped with a race (or vice-versa).

I look Hispanic. Does that mean I need to identify as such? Not really, but I could if I wanted to. Does that mean I need to get in touch with a culture that is foreign to me? No. Do I need to learn Spanish for the sake of it being something "my people" do? No.

That's why people call me transrace. I don't agree with it because to me none of this is about race. I was born and raised in Southern California, so I consider myself American culturally and I try to avoid racial labels in general. So why call myself white if asked? Because when I say I'm Hispanic or simply look Hispanic, people treat me as something other than American. I get ads in Spanish, I get comments about Mexico, and so on. It's just easier to say I'm white since that's true (even though many would not consider me to be) and that's why people have considered me transrace.

Hispanic, which isn't even a race. So when I say I'm white, people think or say that I'm being transracial especially when I say I have no interest in Hispanic and especially Mexican culture or speaking Spanish.
