I hated wine until I had some quality wine. Now I drink it all the time.

I hated scotch until I tried 3-5 different ones and got used to the flavor. Now I drink it regularly.

I hated beer until....well I still don't like it but my wife makes me sip her craft beers constantly so I'm slowly developing a taste for beer.

Point is, if you continue to drink a variety, your tongue will adjust.

- 10pm is when the morning coffee hits all the old men so the bathrooms will be crowded.

- Don't get sucked into the interdepartmental drama. If someone complains about someone else, just smile and move the conversation along.

- Always CYA. Whether it's by policy, manager approval, email communication, etc.

- Don't joke in emails. The tone will not translate and will be taken the wrong way.

I don't feel like learning anything new or changing stuff.

This is the main reason.

Another reason is that Microsoft decided to push Win 10 to so many machines regardless of if they could handle the new OS or not. This caused a lot of people to be stuck with Win 10 that ran like a snail which left a bad taste in the mouths of customers.

If you have a newer PC and installed Win 10 fresh then it's miles better than Win 7.

So it's better to have them spread out over multiple storage devices? Kinda defeats the purpose of a storage device not to mention the convenience, but I get it in that regard.

No. The array will present itself to your OS as one big drive. If you have an array with (4) 1TB drives in it, your OS will see (1) 4TB partition. The convenience is the same plus you have disaster recovery if you have the proper RAID config.

Why would it not make sense? A 250 gb external hdd made sense 10 years ago, without need to raid an array, so 10 years later it's surprising 250 tb external hdd hasn't entered the market yet.

From a customer stand point, it's stupid to have a single point of failure for that much data.

From a business stand point, the market for a petabyte drive would be fairly small.

Point is, you shouldn't just blurt out talking topics regardless of the audience. I don't talk to my wife about horror movies cause she can't stand to watch them. On the flip side, I talk to my cousin about them constantly.

That seems kind of shitty, tbh. You should be able to feel free to talk about anything with a significant other, providing it isn't obsessive or something. My bf talks to me about comic books and superheroes and DBZ. Do I like those things? Not in the slightest. I still try to listen and follow because he likes that stuff. On the flipside, I blab to him about Hallmark movies, J/K-pop groups, and Modern Family, despite him not really caring personally about that crap.

I'm free to talk to her about it and she'll happily listen. I just can't show them to her cause she has a weak stomach and they contribute to her night terrors. Lack of relate able discussion material.

This was my main problem with Dexter. I felt like they used some of their best material the first few seasons and made it harder to keep interest without jumping the shark.

Difference is, Dexter turned into a bad show. Shameless is still good...just not as good as it once was.

Yeah, my wife claims Fiona is a carbon copy of her older sister. Her sister can and has done some of the stuff Fiona has done in the show.

It's pretty funny seeing her react and facepalm at some of the stories.

It's even funnier cause we both grew up in poverty. But she grew up in "white poverty" like in Shameless while I grew up in ghetto poverty closer to what you see in Everybody Hates Chris. I never realized how different they were until watching this show.

I didn't grow up in poverty or the city so I'm not able to relate to a lot of what happens. I grew up with a lower middle class family that lived in a double wide in the country. I watch Shameless and laugh at how outrageous it all is but half of it my wife goes, "No that's a thing that happens. When I was growing up...." Then I go "Wtf that's a thing people do?!?!"

My wife grew up in a neighborhood with people just like the Gallaghers (some in her own family) and she said it's pretty realistic that they'll keep falling into their own mistakes over and over again. She says it's the cycle of poverty and why those families never improve. You'd think they'd learn after all the crap happens to them but they fall right back into familiar patterns.

It's funny you say that cause I was about to edit my post. I get additional laughter from it because my wife also grew up in similar conditions and the comparisons she pulls from the show to her childhood adds to my enjoyment/shock/whatever.

Honestly, my main problem is that the characters don't experience any growth. They make the same mistakes over and over again. The actors were great, there are definitely solid moments, but the plot isn't amazing.

Yeah it's not awful like what Dexter turned into but it's definitely lost it's original spark in the later seasons. It's still fun to watch but it just all sorta blends together after a while. It's harder for them to shock you cause they already set that bar so high.

Tuning to E-flat on a guitar is beneficial for a couple reasons.

First of all, it helps keep your guitar from going out of tune since the tension isn't as tight.

It also allows you to use a capo on the first fret to play in standard tuning, and so then you can just remove the capo if you need to go to flat E (much quicker).

I do love this little trick.

What's the difference between a sharp note and a flat note? I never really got the difference.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong cause I'm only like 75% sure on this. But there is and isn't a difference. One note's sharp is another note's flat. For instance, sharp D is also a flat E.

Most of what I learned about the CLI was on Debian.

Red Hat is the best distro to learn if you want a fat paycheck btw.

Of course. Granted many places use CentOS since it's practically the same without the hefty price. The "support" that comes with Red Hat means nothing if you have a good Linux sys admin team.

My job interview wasn't really to test my Linux skills anyway. It was more a test of my research and discovery skills. Presenting me with a project that I had no knowledge of to see if I had the intuitive to figure it out. My job deals with the underlying data center hardware....not the Linux VMs that sit on it.
