Pol Pot headed a genocide that killed over 4 million people--many of which were his own people--forced the people living under his regime out of the cities and to slave away on the countryside tending crops, and systematically targeted and killed off intellectuals, which included professionals, scholars, people who were bilingual, and even people who merely wore glasses. Ironically and hypocritically, Pol Pot was also an educated individual who could speak French, much like how Hitler himself physically didn't fit into his idea of a pure Aryan Germany. --- |
