I'm kinda torn on this since having % based allows healing items to scale and prevents most of the game's consumables from just gradually scaling into uselessness... but it also makes it prohibitively difficult to heal up squishier party members without feeling like you're wasting your money. Though I guess this partially depends on the difference between max hp across your party is, too.

I think a mix is a pretty good option

I was under the impression though that you needed to sell steam trading cards to other players, so I don't see how this can be used for just farming money off those, why would anyone buy random trash trading cards for games no one has ever heard of?

between the two tales games I've played (vesperia and xillia1), vesperia was very enjoyable and xillia1 was flat out awful. its only redeeming feature was the battle system being pretty good, but then the game was so laggy and a few select skills/artes were so broken that it basically negated the rest of the good parts of combat


As for jrpgs in general 'm inclined to say quantity is down, especially if you're talking very classic-like jrpgs

on one hand, I don't think any reasonable person would ever need that many topics in a day so it could be lowered. But then I also think sometimes you really just do want to make a few topics in a day, so lowering it to like 1 or something seems too much. And then alts are so easy to make here that all the really spammy people probably have 5+ and can make a ton of topics regardless of what the limit is, so any restrictons on it are meaningless

really the best way to do it would be a fixed number of topics per year or something so people don't just make a bunch of garbage topics but if they need to can make a flurry of topics all in one day

ultimately they don't care about PC, they're a console dev company that releases on PC because that's just the thing you do nowadays but I don't think they're particularly interested in making it actually work well.

Side note but the support ticket opened asking that question on the KT website is absolutely hilarious but I probably can't link it since I haven't read through all of it but I'm like 99% sure it would get modded

also on the topic of zelda2: I think it's a pretty fun game but it's in this awkward position where you basically need a certain level of knowledge about the game to make it fun at all. The later dungeons are full of giant dead ends and other wastes of time that are very infuriating, but also not necessary at all if you know where they are and avoid them in advance

Ninja Gaiden was way too hard, IMO.

Castlevania was hard, but not even close to as hard as Ninja Gaiden.

Honestly I think they're both difficult enough that the only people who'd play either are the ones who are into hard games. I don't think many people would be super accepting of an action platformer where playing it feels like kicking around a sack of bricks

Everything in the first question of zelda1 is either fairly simple to find, has hints, or is just optional extra money. Level 8 is not under a "random" shrub, it's under an extremely conspicuous shrub that you will probably burn anyway just trying to walk past PLUS it has a hint in a previous level just in case you didn't realize. https://vgy.me/pshMAQ.png

Quest2 is a little more cryptic but the only thing I think really unfair there is level4 and maybe level 7. The thing is that so many people are used to playing with guides that when the guide tells them the solution directly and skips the intermediate reasoning and ingame hints and stuff, it makes it look like the solution came out of nowhere when really it didn't at all.



Also I'm not sure I'd say NES metroid holds up, it controls very awkwardly, has a poorly designed world because of countless rooms which look almost identical to other ones, and the password system making you load with only a tiny bit of health and having to farm it all back up is garbage

I suppose time limits started out in the first game because it was an arcade game and they wanted to make sure players didn't find a way to just fuck around at the arcade and never give anyone else a turn by standing in the same spot jumping up and down.

the original SMB had an arcade port but its first release was on console, not arcade

I've played it a fair bit yeah, probably like 200-300 hours spread over 6-7 different maps. I generally stop and make a new one once my computer starts lagging too much to play it anymore lol. I play it multiplayer with a few friends, seems like it would be way too lonely to play alone since a lot of the fun for us is discussing where to build what, how to layout the base, and yelling/laughing at people who do particularly stupid or silly looking stuff

Also re translations: NISA and the persona5 translation both have far more issues than would be acceptable in any commercial book and also (as far as I'm aware) don't have as much text. They get away with it because people don't care that much since anine, manga, LNs, jp games, etc have basically been plagued with bad translations for forever and people have accepted it as the new standard which they really shouldn't.

But in the end this is something people have been getting used to for years so I'm not expecting public opinion on it to change any time soon. I'll still mention it when I can though because people in general deserve better and the first step is to get them to realize that and get the issue more attention

to be honest, there wasn't really that big of a deal made about persona 5's english release for a long time, and even then there are still lot of people who claim there's nothing wrong with it so in the end it seems most people don't really care. I guess the next test will be seeing how the danganronpa 3 TL is received

Urgh, if it's on Vita and you've tied a Japanese PSN account to it, it might not be worth it. From what I read, Vita is really messy with the way they handle account-switching. To this day, I will never understand how Sony squandered the Vita's potential so badly.

you have to factory reset it, basically. The actual process is not particularly complicated or long, but you also need to backup any games/saves you have, and the more of those you have the more annoying it gets. Althogh I think there's a way around that if you use 1 memory card per account but that's annoying in its own way

there's a lot of things that annoyed me about Tales of Xillia but the one that probably bugged me the most was (mild mid-game spoilers) one of the party members has a thinking, talking doll sort of thing. It gets kidnapped by the bad guys and they steal its memory chip, which removes all its personality and memory and etc. The girl whose doll it is gets very sad and there's a story arc set up about chasing them down to get it back.

They chase the bad guys for all of like 20 minutes of playtime, following them to a nearby city, then completely forget about them to do other things in the city. The doll later goes completely back to normal by itself and everyone seems to forget anything even happened. The plot thread just completely disappeared

nvm this video is 100x stupider than I thought it was

I was expecting it to be commentary on how it's presented as a way to lock out certain areas, yet given to the player so early in the game that nothing really gets locked out and narrow 1 block high passages become no more interesting than normal passages you can walk through. Or how tunnels can be stuck arbitrarily in the middle rooms to make them look more complex when really it doesn't do anything since transfroming back and forth takes essentially no time or effort.

instead it was almost 10 minutes of garbage complaining about math and how the morph ball is physically too large to make sense

I dunno about individual amazing puzzles but I started playing la mulana recently and it's been full of smaller cool puzzles. It's a very cryptic game about exploring ruins and finding treasures and stuff, and there are hints spread around on stone tablets and statues but the hints are generally vague and don't tell you what exactly they're a hint for unless you can connect the dots mentally yourself. Every time I find another item or unlock another chest feels like a big accomplishment
