I feel like RPGs are more playable in smaller increments than other games, not less. Probably because they're slower paced than other genres and tend to come in very distinct pieces. There's no need to really get in the zone to play it well and so consequently there's nothing really hooking you in and preventing you from just stopping at the end of the room / the next save point / the start of the next quest / etc

recently I've just found that almost anime moves way too slow (which is a silly thing since I like VNs which by basically any metric move way slower but oh well) and anything with full length episodes better either have a lot of plot/comedy to make up for it, or look extremely pretty, of which magus bride managed neither. I'd much rather take a show packed with mediocre jokes over one that has a few good moments and a bunch of zzz

I do this but more out of laziness than explicitly trying to. I generally skip breakfast, don't eat lunch until a little past noon, and very rarely eat supper after 8:30pm. Of course I do break it every so often because it's not actually trying to be a diet, but that's usually how it works out.

Since starting getting like this I've been feeling really tired and I think it's somewhat linked to not eating enough but I can't say for sure. I didn't really increase the portion of my other meals to make up for no breakfast and I already didn't eat enough probably

I've heard of it, haven't read it though and don't really plan to either. R07 has some cool ideas in his writing a lot of the time but in my experience (translated higurashi + umineko plus seeing little untranslated snippets of his other stuff untranslated) his actual writing quality is... not very good. And people I know who've read his stuff in jp tend to agree. So once I started reading untranslated where the quality of writing is more noticeable, I've kinda avoided him

Details on what exactly?

The VN is about a guy with the power to "rewrite" himself (modify physical traits/abilities, in a sense, upgrading himself, but non-reversible) and some of his friends goofing around, they're all part of the school's "occult research club" and he's trying to prove to the president that supernatural stuff does exist. Without outing himself as some kind of superhuman, of course.

... Well, that's only on the surface / at the beginning. Setting spoilers (not plot, but some of the setting is kept hidden for quite a while): The city they live in is actually the site of an underground war between two terrorist organizations, Guardian and Gaia, trying to obtain the Key, which is essentially a weapon of mass destruction capable of making humans go extinct. Gaia wants to capture the Key and use it, believing that this is the only way to save the world from environmental destruction, while Guardian doesn't care at all for the environment and wants to obtain the Key so that they can destroy it. And of course, the characters all end up getting wrapped up in this one way or another.

R07's route is... basically a side route. It doesn't have much to do with the overall plot or message of the VN and I suppose it's nice if you like Lucia but it could just as easily not exist without that much feeling like it was missing. If you're reading it just for that route you will probably be disappointed

yeah, I think it's some combination of these factors:

- made by companies which contain writers, as well as other staff like artists/composers/etc (vs books which can really be made by just a writer) which means the writer doesn't always have a ton of control and they might throw on more writers to get more text out in a shorter time

- VNs are just plain long in general and getting a good writer to do the whole thing would be expensive so they get side/trainee writers to help out sometimes

- Many VNs have a route structure which offers a sort of logical place to divide work among people

At best it's just some small changes in writing style but at worst its inconsistencies in themes, plot holes due to poor communication, and potentially a feeling of being cheated because side writer parts can often feel like unnecessary filler

One of the (probably less obvious) differences from books is that books tend to have 1 author and VNs often have more than 1, often to the detriment of overall quality. Mostly just bringing this one up since it really bugs me :/

they're... as boring as books are, I guess. Maybe less so since they come with audio and art and often voices. But ultimately they're mostly about reading and have a lot more text in general than anime (subtitles), manga or even LNs. Whether you think they're boring or not basically all hinges on whether you find reading in general boring

I think you guys might be hating on mirai nikki a little too much. It's not super great or anything but it has an interesting gimmick and is fun to watch if you just want to see a show slowly spiral into insanity. The attention to detail with the various diary types was cool too

Also I watched 2 eps of blend s, it's surprisingly funny and manages to have fresh comedy in a very worn out setting. Probably the only show I'm gonna watch this season. The show's website also has a link to a weekly ~30 minute radio show that's just the VAs talking about things. Is that something that happens often?

Well I watched the no game no life movie. It was alright. Very different in tone from the series. Not many returning characters but they just made the new characters clones of the old ones so that was pretty lame. Had a lot of things happening all the time but then also felt like very little happened so that was weird.

Subs were good, there were only a few lines I thought they slipped up on significantly... Unless you consider having yellow subs slipping up, those things are gross

the issue is that some things aren't loading fully for whatever reason, this could be outside your control (sites down, poor internet connection, etc), or it could be within your control (you're blocking them from loading)

oh and a bonus #4: your program doesn't actually do what the comment block says it does. It should be pretty easy to notice if you look more closely at what this line says:

The function should first display a prompt asking the user to enter a temperature as Celsius.

and then at your code where it's clear the prompt is not inside the function at all, which makes it appear when the page is first loaded instead of when the button is pressed

What I changed it to is now this:

1) celsius is still a string, not a number. You parse it to check it if it's a number or not but you never store the parsed version in the variable. So when you do math with it you get bad results

2) in this line: fahrenheit == (celsius * 1.8) + 32;
you want only a single equal sign. Single equal is used for assignment, aka "farenheit now has the value of celsius with some math". Double is used for comparison, aka "Is farenheit the same as celsius with some math?"

3) You don't need to list celsius and fahrenheit as arguments to the function here function convertToFahrenheit(celsius, fahrenheit){
. This is if you want to pass in variables when you call the function, which you aren't doing, you just have all your variables global instead (which is bad practice but whatever)

I remembered I never finished Konosuba because I was pissed at Wiz not being an accurate Lich. So, I went and finished out the first season. I don't know if I want to watch the next season. I'm not really feeling it. Still don't care about the characters, aside from Megumin, and the plot really isn't going anywhere. Is there any improvement in the second season?

Second season has a little more plot focus but it's still more of a comedy than anything. If you're looking for plot you're in totally the wrong place. Megumin also has a little less screentime season 2 iirc, I remember a fair number of darkness focused episodes. Overall I think the second season wasn't as good since it lost something when it tried to put in more of an overarching plot

The second season's OVA was great though and it's totally distinct from the rest of the season so you should just watch that tbh

I've read a bit of the LN, maybe like 2 episodes worth? Dunno how far the first one got. It's actually... pretty funny. The combination of a few absolutely ridiculous characters and a few fairly normal characters is nice and even the ridiculous ones are fairly normal in some ways too

plus it seems like there's a fairly lengthy section later that's just the characters playing DnD which sounds super chill

I wouldn't say the game has that much rng in it, and what it does have is generally pretty good since it keeps the bosses feeling fresh.

My big issue with the game is that it just loves putting extremely giant hitboxes everywhere and having only very small predetermined parts of the screen be safe. Once you know where is safe you can just go there so it feels a lot less about dodging and movement than I expected and more about preemptively being in the right place

How much Dialogue does she have in the end anyway? I've kept her up in the background, checking her dialogue regularly and she just keeps going on.

I think it's like 40-50 unique lines? I'm not totally sure

I don't really like footwear and honestly the deal is somewhat appealing except that:

1) I basically wouldn't be able to go outside for like 5-6ish months here because it's just way too cold / snowy
2) Majority of buildings (stores/restuarants/etc) don't let you in if you're barefoot

If I got a special exception for #2 I'd take it
