Two shops in Aylesbury, including a takeaway, have been badly damaged after a crash. It happened over the weekend on Cambridge Street.

Subway has been left boarded up this morning (Monday) with the remains of police tape on the scene.

Magnet has also been affected.The pictures show parts of the brickwork has been broken away in the collision. Bucks Fire say two cars crashed there early yesterday morning.

A man and a woman were left in the care of South Central Ambulance Service. They say an ambulance was called at 3.42am to reports of two cars colliding and one hitting a shop.

The two patients were taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

One in four parents are skipping meals in order to make ends meet, new figures show, prompting calls for the Government to better measure hidden hunger in Britain.

A study published by a coalition of anti-food poverty charities finds 23 per cent of parents with children aged 18 and under skip or see someone in their household skipping a meal due to a lack of money for food.

The research, which surveyed more than 2,000 UK adults, also shows the same proportion of these adults worry about not having enough food to eat, while 13 per cent having gone without eating for a whole day in the last 12 months.

Parents with primary school-age children (aged 5-11) fared even worse, with 27 per cent either skipping or seeing someone in their household skipping meals to make ends meet in the past year.

People are also seeing higher food bills, with 59 per cent of adults saying their groceries cost more in the last three months compared with the same period before, according to the findings.

The figures have prompted concern about a lack of government measures to track food insecurity defined as going hungry or being at risk of going hungry due to not being able to afford food with the issue only currently measured through "piecemeal" snapshots.

The Trussell Trust has warned that food bank use is set to hit record numbers this financial year, but these figures do not include independent foodbanks which make up around a third of the total number of UK foodbanks other food aid providers, or people who skip meals without asking for help.

End Hunger UK, a coalition of food poverty charities, is now calling for a national measure of household food insecurity to tackle what they call a "hidden hunger crisis" in Britain. A new "food insecurity" bill is currently being pushed through Parliament calling for this to happen.

Labour MP Emma Lewell-Buck would propose for questions about hunger to be included in existing national food surveys. She added: 'Weve got record levels of in-work poverty, and the United Nations estimate there is 8 million people in the UK who are food insecure; there are up to about 2,000 food banks now and thats just the ones we know of. Malnutrition is costing the NHS 12bn per year.

All of these stats point to a very worrying picture, and I do now know how the Prime Minister can preside over something as tragic as this and not act. Were one of the riches countries in the world and there are people who wake up hungry every day, wondering where theyll get their next meal from. At the minute, the Government hasnt got a true measurement in place. Any Government that really care about the people its governing has no reason to object to this bill. All its doing is giving a true picture of the stat of the country and the amount of people who are genuinely going hungry.'

It comes a week after a report by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Hunger found more than a million malnourished older people were 'withering away in their own homes' with malnutrition among the elderly set to cost the NHS and social care 15.7bn a year by 2030.

A Government spokesperson said: 'The Government provides a strong safety net through the welfare system for anyone who needs extra support, which includes hardship payments, benefit advances and budgeting loans. 'We recognise there are a number of different sources measuring factors that can influence food security, and we are currently reviewing all available evidence to better understand the impact on households'

A big game hunter has been shot dead in what has been described as a freak accident while he was out hunting.

Pero Jelenic, 75, died in South Africa while aiming at a lion, according to reports, but a stray bullet hit and killed him. According to local reports he had shot another lion dead before the accident happened while he was taking aim at a second victim.

He was in the North West province and friend Slavko Pernar said he wanted to get a lion trophy after hunting everything that could be hunted in Europe. Police are investigating who shot Jelenic, who is from Croatia, however they have said that they do not suspect any foul play.

He is said to have shot all the game he could have shot in Europe so wanted to bag himself some big cats. Mr Mernar told Jutarnji List, a Croatian newspaper: Pero was a passionate hunter of big and small game, and in search of that he travelled most of the world.

He told them that he was in South Africa because he wanted to complete his extensive trophy collection. He added: For the past year he had leased his hotel to dedicate himself to the things he planned to accomplish and enjoy a deserved retirement.

He, unfortunately, received the ugliest end he died in South Africa doing what he loved. His office, a hunting hall, was full of trophies, deer and bear specimens and everything that could be hunted in Croatia and Europe.

Police spokesman Sabata Mokgwabone told MailOnline: The injured man was air-lifted to the nearby hospital by helicopter, but doctors were unable to save the mans life. A case of culpable homicide has been opened, and police are also investigating charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, Brigadier Mokgwabone added.

A man who raped and sodomized a 13-year-old girl at a church camp is avoiding serving any prison time because he is legally blind.

36-year-old Benjamin Lawrence Petty of Spencer, Oklahoma has been given 15 years of probation after he pleaded guilty to raping a young teenage girl who was attending the Falls Creek church camp in 2016.

The criminal complaint filed against Petty, who was working at the camp as a cook, claims that he tied rope around the girls wrists, raped her and then threatened her with physical harm if she told anyone.

The reason that Petty only got probation instead of prison is that his lawyers successfully argued that a legally blind man should not spend time in prison.

The big thing is Mr. Petty is legally blind and the parents (of the victim) live out of state and this little girl lives out of state and didnt want to make all the travels back and forth, Murray County Assistant District Attorney David Pyle explained The plea was negotiated with their permission.

Under the terms of his probation, Petty is required to wear an ankle monitor for the next two years and must register as a sex offender. He is also required to receive counseling to control his sexual urges.

There's a lot of cool things about him.

Another bit of trivia I like is his iconic "Let's give the fish some food/let's feed the fish" comes from a letter he got from a blind girl (written by her dad smart guy) saying she couldn't tell when he was feeding the fish.

So from then on he made it a point to loudly annouce every time he was feeding the fish, for her and anyone else blind watching.
