I only ever watch the NCAA for the tournament, but I don't like the way they play basketball. I can't really put my finger on it, but something about it seems really sloppy and disorganized, even with the best teams. There's just a noticeable gap in the quality of play, which is the same problem I have with college football. I like some of their rules better, like 1-and-1s, but some are just dumb, like the possession arrow

I like to gamble, which makes march madness awesome, but the NBA vs the NCAA has some differences. I personally just think that the pace/style of play of college ball is more exciting

I think I might actually get into the NBA if St. Louis got a team. I enjoy it more than NCAA but it doesn't help that Missouri is insane embarrassing garbage at basketball and SLU is a weird private school

St. Louis deserves a big 4 major sports representation. There were years where the Vikings were being threatened to move to LA, and it was shitty. I feel bad for any city and fanbase that actually had to experience it. STL is a top 5 baseball and hockey town. Give them back an NFL team and give them an NBA team.

I've always thought that college basketball is way more entertaining than NBA, but it's too bad that my fave NCAA sucks

Are you hyped at all for the Wolves? I don't know much about hockey, will the Wild be good? Those other sports are just around the corner man

The Wild have plateaued as of like 3 years ago. They're an okay hockey team, but that's all they will ever be in the current era. They have good players, but most of the are underachievers. Also Parise is way out of his prime and will probably retire this season due to injury.

The Wolves look like the best team in MN. I don't like basketball but I'm trying to learn so we'll see how it goes.

Vikings are the Vikings. My favorite team, but they perpetually suck.

Really a great year for the Twins. I'm excited for next year and looking forward to paying more attention to baseball next season.

Actually when I watched baseball I was a Red Sox fan. Because they are in Boston, and the Bruins are bears, and I liked brown bears as a little kid.

I agree that maybe there are semi-valid reasons for the between-pitch rituals, but sometimes you just have to accept that changing rules in sports will challenge players, otherwise your sport will become stagnant and not appropriately grow with the times. There are some players for whom you could easily trim five seconds off of each pitch, which adds up to like 20 minutes over a whole game

I wonder if something similar to the NFL playclock could work in the MLB

they don't. In their best performances this year, they needed Erv or Jose to pitch 7+ good innings

the thing with the Twins is, they don't really have anyone else. 2 good pitchers (who have had their share of bad games) and a bunch of guys from the scrap heap who over performed this year

yeah the rituals are probably a big mental routine thing. Plus, how do you even phrase that rule?

I think the NFL actually kind of got it right this year for once. When a team calls a 30 second timeout, half the screen will show the field and half will show a brief ad. I obviously don't like the ads, but it's better than taking a full on commercial break (which is what they used to do).

also I have seen tweets/articles that Paul Molitor will get fired after this season (unless they win the world series or something) because the new management doesn't like him and was planning on bringing in "their guy" after this year. That seems crazy to me. Yeah they had a franchise worst 2016, but some of that was bad luck, and this team continually refuses to spend money on players or try and improve their pitching. Not to mention he's the only manager in history to lead a team from 100+ losses to playoffs the next season. I think it'd be crazy to fire Molly.

It's obvious they'd be at least a little longer, but I haven't watched much playoff baseball ever in my life

You know I find it tiresome to complain about baseball announcers because they're all so bad but the national bias to the Yankees is so terrible. The fact that Aaron Boone would say "what a season it's been for Chad Green" is just an egregious example. Like, I'm sure he's fine, but he's a middle reliever! The fact that he has an opinion at all on the guy proves the undue attention he gives to NYY

this reminds me of a "hot take" from a MN radio guy. He says that if Aaron Judge played for KC, he would get hardly any national media attention compared to how much attention he gets as a Yankee.
