Lots of things can cause CTE to develop

Okay maybe I'm wrong. Enlighten me.

Domestic abuse, military service, seizures. Basically anything that causes repeated hits/shaking of the head over a period of time.

Now my question is... do they test every day people who die but had rough and unbalanced lives? Like, are they only testing football players who died?

I am curious to know. Is it actually head collisions (which they obviously can't have numbers for) or is it pain pill usage or is it they are testing people with troubled lives and this is prevalent in those cases?

Does anyone know the exact details behind the testing?

That's probably what the defense lawyers will go for. Lots of things can cause CTE to develop, it's no different than people with cancer or COPD suing cigarette companies.

So what are the chances the new healthcare bill gets passed? It looks like it may come down to a single vote.

I don't get how teaching about the existence of gay people somehow involves sex. Like, I'm in a relationship with another man, we're both asexual. It isn't really even a part of our relationship.

How horrible are your romantic relationships if the only thing that differentiates them from anything else is that sex is involved?

Intimacy is an important part in a relationship. Without it how is it any different than having a best friend/roommate/business partner? It doesn't have to involve sex though.

Another thing missing from yesterday's discussion is whether Corrik thinks if there is an appropriate age group to talk about the existence of trans- (and homo- I guess) sexuals and what age that would be.

When you do sex ed in school with parent notification and the ability to opt out if you wish to teaxh your child it yourself.

10-13 years old range imo. I would go with 12.

Fair enough, however teaching someone sex-ed at age 12 is a bit late. Girls typically get their first period between the ages 10-15 so to teach them sex-ed when around half the female class has already shown physical signs of puberty is illogical.

It would be like writing a final exam and then being taught the course. The information is nice, but they could have used it earlier.

For what it's worth, I don't think Canada has black history month or women's history month, and seems to do fine.

But Canada tends to just teach a lot of British history, which...well, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria cover a gigantic number of highly influential years of British history.

To be fair i am way way more iffy on women's history month.

Women do just fine - finer based on whether they grew up filthy rich or not like most people.

Canada on the other hand, does not have to live with the legacy of their country being built on the backs of slave labor and the intentional creation of a black underclass that followed.

True, but we've been pretty bad towards First Nations people.

Seems like you guys had quite a discussion yesterday.

I can also confirm that outside of maybe a few recent changes in some places that in the US there is no gender/sex requirement of using a specific washroom. It's why no woman using the men's washroom has ever been arrested despite the trope of them using it over a crowded women's washroom.

She said that was the goal of authoritarians, which is utter nonsense. The goal of authoritarians is to, well, be authoritarian. That's most easily accomplished by getting the masses to trust them, though not necessarily mandatory either.

That's different from saying what authoritarians actually do.

That's the goal once they are in power, when trying to gain power it's best to cause mistrust among the current power class and getting people to trust you instead.

Of course that doesn't make Clinton's examples any better...

A doctor could be a nurse more easily than the other way around (though a doctor isn't technically a manager).

Bad example, I'd argue that the opposite is true for non-specialized doctors.

Managers require a different set of skills than their workers so it’s difficult to compare them. Your most knowledgeable worker may not be a good manager.

I thought what prevented the US from entering the war initially was a strong sense of isolationism by a large portion of the public and congress.

It also didn't help that a non-insignificant portion of the US approved of Hitler at the time.

Yeah, at best the Democrats (+ Independents) can get to 50, but that would require them to take Nevada and Arizona and hold seats in West Virginia, North Dakota, Montana, Missouri and Indiana.

After that they would have to flip Texas or Mississippi if they want to take the Senate.

If a terrorist goes into a hospital and says tel me this information. A nurse is gonna give it and not lose her job over it. That is an extreme example.

She would most definitely lose her job, especially if an attack occurred due to giving that information.

It's no different than if she told a mass murderer who threatened to kill her what blood type the patient has so that the murderer can inject the wrong blood into the patient.
