They learn discipline, teamwork, leadership, mission focus, physical fitness and many other skills that can aid them in various areas of their lives in and out of the military. There are also usually other benefits that are offered such as bonus pay, housing allowances, travel assistance, higher education incentives and more.

Military service is not ideal for everyone, but assuming that it's just a waste of one's life is a bit silly and ignorant.

Yeah, it was good. I'll watch anything with Samuel Jackson in it, but the rest of the cast was on point as well. Tarantino films feel different from other directors' movies, and I always look forward to that.

My favorite scene is probably when Channing Tatum appears, does what he does and then suffers the consequences. Everything about it was unexpected and I liked how it ramped up the already violent and wacky nature of the movie.

I think the argument would be that he is not actually embracing Western culture; he is appropriating it. He isn't dropping his own religion and converting to another, or at least incorporating the culture into his own. This reminds me of when people get offended by a character in a movie being played by an actor/actress who does not share that character's background, whether it's based on race, nationality, sexual orientation, and so on.

(I don't care one way or another, but maybe it's because I don't really have a problem with cultural appropriation.)

There were a couple of years when I was broke, so I tried to get creative with "gifts" for friends. I looked at what they needed, which wouldn't cost money and that nobody else was providing. For example, this one friend could never keep her car clean, so I cleaned it for her. Threw away all the trash inside, wiped down the interior and so on. I cleared my day for another friend, who was kind of drifting away from our group, and I just hung out with her and did errands. It was good bonding time.

Yeah, some people would say it was lame, but I didn't have any money and these friends seemed to appreciate the thought and effort. Just sayin.

None of this should be surprising. Groups that have a vested interest in creating echo chambers within their communities are eventually going to look for ways to extend their boundaries even further.
