Cecil couldn't know what would've happened by shutting that down in any nonviolent way. All they knew was that a fuckton of energy was there; generally when you know something like that is happening, you would go about it in a very specific way, so as to not blow up what seems to be a giant fucking battery.

Angstrum Prime is intelligent enough to have put all this together and still took the fucking helmet off when they told him not to fucking do it. Given the sheer amount of death and moral relativity he's gone through, having arguably the greatest possibly perspective of things in that whole verse, he should've been able to balance Invincible's loss against risking his whole deal.
