Pretty good episode. I almost feel bad for the show, cause its doing multiverse stuff, and I feel like people have finally begun to get tired of it, even though obviously it happened in the comic ages ago.

I doubt the whole season will be about the multiverse. I've read like half the comic. Up to volume 10, and it goes to like 20 or so I think

The multiverse story doesn't last forever

I read it like right after season 1 came out, so its been awhile. I dont remember how long it lasted. Theyve changed a few things, so who knows if theyve considered extending it.

The multiverse stuff only happens when they're at some biggest bad of the arc, and some of the characters join without too much explanation. I guess it depends on how much of the story of the different series they want to get into

Mostly the show seems to just rearrange when stuff happens. Some things happen in the show sooner than in the comic. And vice versa

That episode was pretty great. I love Angstrom and his whole thing. A+ supervillain origin story.

No, Omniman 100% ripped his spine out and then Bobby blew them both up. I'd have forgotten if it hadn't been in the recap. We missed something, but we're supposed to have missed it.

One nice little touch that someone in the Normies reaction video pointed out is that when Mark goes to make dinner, he still pulls out three plates. Which is sad.

Ugh, multiverse stuff in the first episode. Angstrum was at least pulling it off in an interesting way, until his very specific brain damage.

pegusus123456 posted...
By who?

Fucking by who not

Cecil couldn't know what would've happened by shutting that down in any nonviolent way. All they knew was that a fuckton of energy was there; generally when you know something like that is happening, you would go about it in a very specific way, so as to not blow up what seems to be a giant fucking battery.

Everyone should've known that on some level. The Blues Brothers are intelligent and capable of talking, but they went straight for the fight. Angstrum Prime is intelligent enough to have put all this together and still took the fucking helmet off when they told him not to fucking do it. Given the sheer amount of death and moral relativity he's gone through, having arguably the greatest possibly perspective of things in that whole verse, he should've been able to balance Invincible's loss against risking his whole deal.

Overall fun, but god if they didn't get real fucking stupid with what should've at least been a smart take on the general copout that is multiverse powers.

It could have been a doomsday device that'd blow up the world and it had already activated, they had to do something.

Cecil and Mark wouldn't have believed them regardless and they'd have still went to jail even if they did. And while they are smart, they're also still kinda big brutes, so it's no surprise they went to whooping that ass.

He was a good person who took a moral stand.

Characters doing things suboptimally or foolishly isn't automatically "plot induced stupidity." These are all realistic things these characters would have done.

It could have been a doomsday device that'd blow up the world and it had already activated, they had to do something.

It could've been a device that would blow up the city if they took it down without a bomb squad. "We don't know what it is, destroy it however" is just a really dumb take even for real life inexperienced civilians.

Cecil and Mark wouldn't have believed them regardless and they'd have still went to jail even if they did. And while they are smart, they're also still kinda big brutes, so it's no surprise they went to whooping that ass.

The Maulers and Cecil have done plenty of negotiating with known enemies and potentially hostile targets, and we've seen them be smart enough to know to cut their losses. The Maulers enjoy brutalizing people, yes, but prior to this, they've known when to give up a bad situation.

He was a good person who took a moral stand.

If it's in-character for them to be foolish, it's one thing. I've already explained why these aren't at all in character for any of these characters, given what we've been told of and what we've seen of them.

Do they?
For a couple of villains, they have a surprising amount of empathy for others, even moreso than a lot of the hero characters. And yeah, they put people in danger with their shenanigans but they actively go out of their way not to harm innocent bystanders that aren't a threat.

That's probably why they're great.

I went and rewatched it because you have to be joking. Won't rehash what Guide said but they are all aware that they'll die if he takes off the helmet. That alone means he has the biggest bargaining chip in the room. How does he use it? He doesn't. Goes straight from "hey stop! " to "let's all go boom".

Then Cecils team I guess went there to do nothing in particular since they missed at least two survivors. If any one of the four parties involved had some sense, conflict is over.

He doesn't really know how the machine works. He probably didn't know they'd all die, the Twins didn't tell him it would explode. He probably thought he'd be the only one to face any consequences.

Maulers love beating ppl up, that's not really in question. They're usually bad guys, but if the project is interesting enough, they're gonna join that side good or bad. They're the ideal chaotic neutral types

Never seemed to me like an interest thing. It's usually that they're the only ones around with such specific and valuable engineering knowledge that are -also- willing to act as mercenaries. Their primary concern is always the payout.

Oh yeah they love money too, but any time they worked with Cecil, even though there was compensation, they did it cuz it was also an interesting experiment. They do straight up claim they love science, and somehow they're like one of the best scientists around in that universe lol
